Hello Jim!
I was waiting to see if anyone else was going to answer, but I guess not! My training on the double end bag is somewhat sporadic, and there are no specific routines that I do. For beginning purposes, it is best to start by grabbing the no-stretch cord (which should be the bottom cord, by the way) and pulling it toward you. Then back up a step and assume your on guard position, still holding the cord. Now, when you are ready, release the cord, allowing the bag to fly away from you. As it comes back, nail it with a direct lead straight punch. If it flies straight away from you, your punch was direct. If not, your punch was misaligned. When you get to where you are hitting straight every time using this drill, add a palm stop (also referred to as "catching the jab") or a slip as the bag returns to you. Do the same drill with a backfist and a cross, learning to hit straight and driving the bag directly away from you, then slipping it as it returns. Then start combinations, and when ready, add the hook punch into the equation. Then work on broken timing, slipping and parrying with your combinations. That should keep you busy for a LONG time! Good luck, and let me know how it goes!
Keep Blasting!

"What is Jeet Kune Do (JKD)? Chinese martial art, definitely! It is a kind of Chinese martial art that does away with the distinction of branches, an art that rejects formality, an art that is liberated from tradition." __Bruce Lee
