Hey Sifu Davis,

I was reading the book The Dragon and Tiger, (i forgot which volume) and it was talking about Bruce explaining the Yin yang theory and how it applies to fighting. Do you get all this stuff? I only thought of yin yang as opposites - never considered it could apply so deep before! Is it worth it to take time to understand these principles?

Yin/Yang

Hello Wei Lin!

The main thing to understand regarding yin/yang and fighting is the relationship and constant interplay between hard (attack) and soft (defense). Conserve your enegy for the attack! Defense is secondary, but when necessary should be a parry (re-directing of the opponent's force) as oposed to a block (total stoppage of the opponent's force using physical force of your own). In other words, think of yin (soft) as the defense and yang (hard) as the attack. This helps make the attack/defense relationship easier to explain and understand!
