"Unsettled Matters"

Hey Sifu Davis,

Have you read this book? Knowing that you are a Bruce Lee historian, does it have any substance? I have not read it, but only read reviews, and have to say, it is quite horrible and makes me feel...strange, especially since he married Linda, and said Bob Baker was his drug/steroid supplier - when Bruce was not blown up like bodybuilders.

Additional claims/points of interest:
Bruce had lots of prostitutes
His back injury was just a spasm that lasted 2 weeks. (I think a lot of us have read Bruce's letters to Jhoon Rhee talking about his "screwed up back" - why would Bruce lie about it?)

Tom Bleecker was married to Linda for a short while and quickly divorced. He said that most of the stuff he wrote with Linda in his biography was false.

Tom Bleecker is supposed to have been Bruce's one time "close friend and student." (Some friend!)

Foul play in his death included the triads.

Most of his sources, he says, were based on interviews from triad members. Are we really supposed to take the scum of hong kong's word for it?

He also includes that Bruce was not a great fighter because he didnt compete.

Again, all these things I wrote were based on internet searches and reviews - i might have some things wrong because I didn't read the book.

Not So Great News!

July 13 2005, 1:09 AM

Hello Wei Lin!

I hate to say this but I have learned many TRUE things over the past two years that have nearly destroyed my image of Bruce Lee as a person! It is a good thing that it is his martial art and his abilities as a martial artist that I am interested in, because if morals and clean living were the issue, I would be having NOTHING to do with anything Bruce Lee related after the things I have found out! Maybe not everything, but MOST of what was in the book is absolutely true! I too have doubts about the steroid issues, as I have never seen any photos of Bruce Lee where he appeared to be on steroids! Did you also know that Tom Bleeker has offered $25,000 to anyone that can disprove anything in his book, and there have been NO TAKERS! Also, the Bruce Lee Estate has not challenged anything he wrote OR attempted any legal action whatsoever! What does that tell you?

Patrick Strong is a good friend of Bleeker's, and he has seen all of the documentation that backs up the things he says in the book. Patrick says that everything in it is pretty much true! This is disappointing to you I know, as it was to me, but hey, Bruce Lee was only human too, just like you and I! We can only strive to not make the same mistakes in life! I will say this, however, the book makes for a very interesting read! I couldn't put it down once I had started reading it!

Sifu Davis,

I am very sad to hear this. VERY sad. I looked up to him immensly.

Despite his flaws, from his interview footage he seemed like a really friendly guy. He's impacted lots of people around him. Giving the Chinese people someone to look up to and admire is, I believe, one of his greatest contributions, restoring the self-esteem of his people. Being Chinese myself, I have at least this much to thank him for.

I might have bought the book, but they are selling it on Amazon used for $70 and that is way too much for me to spend on a book.

Again, I'm very sad to hear this and very dissappointed. *sigh*

Definitely NOT Worth It!

July 13 2005, 2:53 AM

Hello Wei Lin!

It is definitely not worth paying $70.00 for the book! It is just a small paperback size book with no photos, and is worth nowhere near $70.00! I heard that someone had bought the rights to it and it will be reprinted! I would just wait for that if I were you! Not only would you be spending $70.00 that you cannot afford to spend for just one book, but it would be money spent to have the memory of someone you look up to destroyed right before your very eyes! Just keep the nice thoughts that you have about Bruce Lee and let him live on in your memory like that!

If you ever want to know more about this, maybe we can discuss it in person one day when you come to train with me! I WILL NOT be the one to give this information out on the internet for all to see! I found out for myself! I feel that I need to let everyone else that wants to know do the same! It is not up to me to trash Bruce Lee's memory in the eyes of others!

I don't believe him!

August 23 2005, 9:41 AM

I think if he had this information he should have told the public a long time ago. Don't wait until you get a divorce from Linda to start telling stories about Bruce Lee, the man is not here to defend himself.
