Left Leg Sidekick

Hi all,

What do you think of the left (or rear) leg sidekick? What i mean is, from a right lead, the left leg swings to the front (similar to a rear roundhouse movement) and delivers a sidekick. An example of a use of this is if the opponent does a straight left on you (from a right lead), and you slip right to the outside of their punch and deliver this sidekick. Is it a part of Jeet Kune Do?

Rear Side Kick

September 5 2005, 9:37 PM

Hello Wei Lin!

As this is a rear leg kick, it takes longer to deliver and is much less efficient as a counter. A lead leg side kick would accomplish this goal with NO FOOTWORK necessary and full speed/power capability! A lead straight kick to the groin or abdomen would also be much more efficient, as would a lead stamping kick to the solar plexus! Just some things to think about!
