I have done some reading and the true reason outside of the perservation of the art is Self-defense and self expression. But to add on more clutter is a problem. To create drills and to use the minimum in training goes back to wing chun. This is the core of Jeet Kune Do, to minimize and use little to accomplish alot. That's also a wing chun way. My JKD resemble kickboxing, but I made it a point to learn some wing chun to correct the missing link. For it is good to have some basic trapping in your storage room in case you need it. I respect all of the JKD family even if we have differences of opinion. Sifu, first and foremost, your a great man and promoter of the art and I thank you for your insight into the methods of training. May we all find our niches in the art and go for the path less chosen!!!!!!!!!
