“To have no technique”
How can I have no technique as an individual? We as martial artiest not just Jkd practitioners should look at the bigger picture on what JKD is all about, to become a no technique fighter requires lots of hard work and commitment not just few punches and kicks. it requires much time in drilling one specific area of fighting until it becomes part of you ,you no longer thinking of it ,each technique whether it is trapping, punching, kicking, or ground fighting, A JKD practitioner must and should drill to one specific drill or technique at a time ,and should not jump around from one to another without becoming or understanding that specific area ,once you become the technique than you can move on to another by dealing with different application against different size people using the of "IT" to it’s fullest in any situation.

muscle memory

Good post George! As Sifu Lamar tells us we must drill/train to where we don't have to think about what to do, our muscles/reflex just do it. Everything just flows smoothly.

Great post!

Hi George:

This is a very good post! We need to strive
to get to where, as Bruce Lee said, "my opponent
determines my technique". Or, as he stated,
"Be water." Always flowing, powerful but flexible
and not having a preconceived idea of what our
technique will be. That's not easy and I am not
there, yet. But, that is why we all train.

I like what you said about drilling each technique
until we no longer have to think about it.

Have a great day!

Dick Jeffries

I like that post George,I was sort of talking about that the other day with my students. If we are talking about this on JKD terms,We're training to Intercept our opponents under various conditions be it punching, kicking, trapping and grappling to the point that each movement that we make or drill constantly become instinctive without thought or plan.Tell if i'm missing something.
