Hey there,

I was just wonder if Sifu lamar davis II has ever trained and/or recieved certification under Taky or Andy Kimura themselves from the Seattle school?

Or was it through another teacher/s that you learned the Seattle syllabus of Jun fan?

Many thanks,

PS - love the site, the information is great, keep it up!

Hello Anthony!

Thank you for your comments on my website! I am glad you are enjoying it! My experiences with Sifu Taky and Andy are somewhat limited, as I have trained with them at all five of the annual events when the former Nucleus still existed. Many years ago (around 1991 I think it was) I visited Sifu Taky's kwoon in Seattle when it used to be under his grocery store. Now it is in a different location.

My certification as a Full Instructor of the Seattle material comes from Sifu Patrick Strong and Sifu Joseph I. Cowles, both original First Gerneration students of Bruce Lee during the Seattle period. I feel that the Jun Fan Gung Fu material is often neglected by some Jeet Kune Do practitioners, and this, in my opinion, is a HUGE mistake! I feel that the structure learned from Wing Chun and Jun Fan is VITAL to the structure of Jeet Kune Do! I guess it is easier for me to see this due to my exposure to the entire curriculum, rather than just a limited part of it!

Thanks again for your comments on my website, and good luck with your training! Take care and God Bless!

Keep Blasting!

Just posting to say I apprecciate the reply.

The Jun Fan gung fu material is priceless in my opinion, it emphasizes the routes behind Bruce Lee's thinking on Jeet kune Do and personal development through modifying traditonal gung fu and western arts.

I understand the ongoing problem of bias in today's JKD instructors in what they not only teach but what they learn as well, if you are to understand the mechanics and potential of JKD then one must embrace all aspects (and train them to a sufficient level) of Bruce Lee's teachings.

Taky and Andy Kimura are very humble in their teachings I think, though are somewhat selevtice in their tutoring, so it's great to hear of someone who has experience with them and other 1st generation students of Bruce Lee from the Seattle period.

My respects again, and congratulations on your daughter's 24th ;)

These people are true representatives of Bruce Lee.
They have it all, the complete curriculum of Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do,the integrity and the ability, they have the whole thing not just a part as many people seem to think.
I am proud to call them my Instructors.
Martin
