JKD training / teaching ... question for Sifu Davis

Hi Sifu:

I am sure not happy about the news from the BLEF.
I know you feel the same.

Are we coming to a day when we can no longer
train in or teach JKD, unless we do it for free?
It almost sounds like infringement on our
Constitutional rights. Many others seem to be
trying that. However, I can understand copyright
protection, etc. But, it seems a little excessive.

Just wanted to get your input. I may have an
opportunity to teach at the recreation building
at our church. But, I wanted to hear from you
before I proceed on that.

Thanks and have a great day! God bless you.
Keep looking to Him. He never fails! (Hebrews 13:5)

Dick

Keep On Going!

Hi Dick!

We can still use JEET KUNE DO, or preferrably HARDCORE JEET KUNE DO (separates US from THEM), to describe what we are doing. We CANNOT call it JUN FAN JEET KUNE DO or JUN FAN GUNG FU or use the JKD SYMBOL. We CANNOT use the name BRUCE LEE or LEE JUN FAN or any image of BRUCE LEE to promote anything we are doing! I look at it like this: As long as we continue to do our part to see that the TRUE ART of JEET KUNE DO (not some watered down kickboxing with the power side forward a finger jab here and there) continues to flourish, we are doing all that we can do!

Keep Blasting!

Here We Go Again!

Well it looks like to me that this is going the same way the old Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Nucleus went - to pieces! And I agree with others on here, it's all about the money. To me it looks like they want everything to go through them - you will have to be "certified" through them, and then you can use the names, symbols, and the images, after you maintain your yearly dues to keep your "license." I can tell you this much, it will only serve to splinter Original JKD more, not unify it! But I agree wholeheartedly with Sifu Davis - Let's just keep on going with what we do and forget them! By the way, Sifu do you think they were targeting you personally or are they going after everyone? Can I expect a nice certified letter too?
