Opponent: Kicker

Hey Sifu Davis

What is the best way to fight someone who likes to kick alot (i.e. Tae Kwon Do practitioner)

For me in the past I've always had to take one to land a few, meaning take a kick to land some punches. But I'm wondering if there's a better way.

Sometimes when I want to punch them in the face they themselves are good at stop kicking too.

Hi Wei Lin! It's always been my impression that explosive footwork is your best friend with kickers. This sometimes works. When your opponent throws a kick, reverse push shuffle or pendulum shuffle just out of kicking range so they miss, but then immediately pendulum shuffle back in tight on them and go to town. The timing on this is very important though and takes a lot of practice. Sifu please correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Let it happen

First of all try this little experiment.1,have someone throw a kick at you as fast as possible while you stare directly at the foot inwich they are kicking with.see how fast you can react to this kick 2,this time use your perephial vision to see how fast you can see the kick do not look directley at the kick .by using your perephial
if you have practiced the awareness training that Sifu: LamarDavis has taught you should be able to intercept their
intentions and simply stop kick or obstruct their kick and then imediately blast them .useing your perephial helps you to tap into your subconcious and this cuts the reaction and iniation speed by a tremendious amount.just trust your structure and remember (Jeet)hope this helps have a great day.

Defense against a kicker

Kick him in the groin when they kick at you. Also look for there knee. Like the guy said in karate kid if a make can stand he can't fight.
