If you train with or have trained with Sifu Lamar you don't know how lucky you are that he is here in Alabama or that you have trained with him. I have been surfing the net looking at different so-called JKD web sites and have found that most of the so called instructors are full of themselves. Most of what they do is takeyourdough as they do not know real JKD.

Also we have a very good forum that although it is slow sometimes it is quality not quantity that is here. I have been on another forum of a well known JKD person. Not only does he disrespect people and tries to degrade them; He uses the most foul language and is totally ignorant. If you do not suck up to him and agree with everything he says then brother you get cussed, called names or threatened with getting banned from the forum for stating the truth, the obvious and having a different opinion. He will not answer questions no matter how simple the question. If he does you can't tell it as it will take you for ever to figure out the run on sentence.

Sifu Davis will go out of his way to show you or give you the answer when asked. It will even be clear and precise.

As I said we don't know how lucky we are.

Haha, sadly I know exactly who Slappy is. I don't understand how anyone could possibly take that forum seriously. I've yet to see any forum where you could get straight detailed answers about techniques like we get here. It's really nice not having to sift through a bunch of garbage on this forum.

I only disagree in the regard that I think some of us do appreciate the quality and dedication we have in Lamar and the other good people we have in this group. I am particularly lucky to have Lance here in KC.

I have always respected Sifu Davis, and have always been grateful for his answers. He is really one of a kind, and you can tell of his passion and love for JKD by the way he spreads it without asking for anything in return. His answers are always VERY helpful, VERY practical, VERY direct, yet VERY detailed and I'm proud to be able to communicate with him through the internet.

That statement was directed more towards the Bama boys. You guys that only get the training 3-4 times a year know how lucky we here in Alabama are. I am sure Lance is doing a good job as he really showed patience when he trained with me last year. I think the only thing he did not like was trying to lop sao or lin lop sao my arm. Also from training with you I can see he is doing a good job. I hope to see you at the camp coming up and hopefully the next KC seminar/camp I can attend.

Yes, in Birmingham we are lucky to have Sifu Davis. There certainly is lots of crappy martial arts schools in Birmingham, and Birmingham seems to be behind the curve on martial arts. There are plenty of the Tae kwon Do black belt mills here (though I've heard some are more serious than others). There's a few Okinawan style dojo's and a few Yoshikai(sp?) schools here too. There is even a kooky fruit who teaches some sort of kung fu/tai chi thing thats heavy on the mysticism and light on the fighting skills. The more serious guys have a few BJJ classes or MMA classes with mixed disciplines, but all fairly heavy on the grappling. I think there is even one guy who claims to teach JKD, but it's mostly grappling. Theres even the odd ninja or akido practioner here. Oddly enough though, even when I talk to people who are "into" martial arts, few seem to know what JKD is. A few goobs even think you're talking about Tae Kwon Do. One guy even thought it was a mythic art that doesn't exist like Dim Mak. Of course, I must admit that I didn't know what JKD was when I started... I started class with a friend and was looking for a fighting class. I would have tried just about any art, except for a gi wearing art. (I personally think gi are goofy). Luckily, I got to get into Sifu's class and have learned a lot about JKD and even other martial arts since Sifu is pretty well versed on several arts... So thanks Sifu, I really appreciate what you're doing and am glad I live in a town you teach in.

Having travelled to quite a few places on this little place we call earth and having met quite a few other JKD instructors, I can say that I do consider myself extremely lucky to have Sifu Davis as my teacher!

i agrre with what u said kent. i have also been to that site and cant seem to get a direct answer... all get are insults! i once asked him as how and should i to protect and defend weaker people even if it is none of my business? you know what his answer is? "ha! protect the weak dont make me laugh" well u be the judge on that...at least through that site iv found this site.

We don't have to deal with that anymore! The forum is gone! Kent and I had stopped posting there due to our posts and comments constantly being deleted! Talk about a waste of time!

If it wasn't for you posting there, I wouldn't have known about you or your website. Yes it was pointless when they delete your posts and comments but at least I was able to find out about your forum. On your forum there is a very knowledgable, experienced and friendly Sifu who gives very detailed and professional answers

To the two that came from the other forum to this one you see what I was trying to get across to someone. BIG DIFFERENCE in a professional and a wannabe professional. Also as I said it is not quantity but quality here.
