I wonder what is you oppinion of Tommy Carruthers and what he is doing? I think he is getting ahead on Bruce's stuff. I also, I don't think he is that good what's your opinion?

Think he is a very good martial artist but sometimes when I see the techniques he does I wonder if its really JKD. I've seen a couple of things that he did that seemed to contradict what Sifu Lamar teaches technique-wise. Also, i'm not too sure about him sometimes on a personal level, I got banned from his forums for providing a link to a piece of equipment that he mentioned and someone was asking about. He doesn't always seem very professional with his answers on forums and a lot of times assume people have no idea what they're talking about. I also don't like how he seems to bash wing chun and praise boxing when he does not understand all of wing chun. I find him to be hypocritical in some ways.

I do know for sure that he is very fast and can hit very hard because I have seen and met him in person.

What did you mean exactly when you said ahead of Bruce's JKD?

I think Tommy is good at what he does, but I pretty much agree with what Tom already stated. He is a good martial artist, but I was not pleased with some of the things that went on when his discussion forum was still up and running. No so much anything having to do with me, but some things directed at one of my students who asked an honest question on that forum! Also, there was a certain level of "crudeness" that went on there that I just couldn't agree with (foul language, rude comments, etc.). To me, there is no place for that on a martial arts forum. We are supposed to be here to help each other, not one make another feel like a complete idiot!

Also, there toward the end, Tommy seemed to convert completely over to following Ted Wong and his approach, which is certainly not the only way to do Jeet Kune Do, and DEFINITELY far from being the most COMPLETE approach! I am all for the preservation of everything that Bruce Lee taught, which is what I teach. I feel that if anything is left out, you will never "be all you can be" as the saying goes! If you bypass the skills and training methods that gave Bruce Lee his awesome neural system, you will never be the best JKD man that you can be! I respect all of my fellow Jeet Kune Do instructors, but that doesn't mean that I agree with everything that they do!

I was banned Saturday. I offered a differing view point than one of the people who was posting an oppinon (not Tommy). The topic was 135 posts long, so there was alot of interest in the subject. Tommy said my comments were rubbish, B.S. and he then instructed all forum members to cease any further posts on the subject. The next day I suggested that perhaps the solution would be to restrict the subject matter allowed if they did not want to here differing oppinions. 20 minutes latter I was banned. This lack of tollerance for discussion seems to indicate that this group may have created a "classical mess" and called it JKD.

TC seems to be very fast, simplistic ,but he is totally bias and is extremely rude. if your oppinions don't flow with his he is short with you and discards you as not knowing anything. should'nt a teacher be excessable and helping?
i do not know mr davis personally, but we have exchanged emails and he is one of the most giving with his time and patient in helping me as much as possible without actually being there at his school. this is what JKD is about and epitimizes it to the fulliest.

for those of us lucky enough to have been helped by him should feel gracious and attempt to carry on the JKD way as he is doing

lucky to be able to train with and also have this forum with Sifu Lamar. I to have been banned on the TC forum. I guess they only want a#$ kissers and mindless drones on that forum. Those that want a good teacher, friend and sifu have come to the right place. Good, correct and indepth answers is what you will get from him. On top of that you will be able to understand his answers.
