Hello Rene!
The lead leg oblique is a rarely ever used kick, but when we do use it you have already closed and made initial contact with the opponent, therefore there is no footwork "with" the kick. It is normally used from one of our leg trap/leg check positions, usually to take out the inner knee of the opponent's rear leg. It often follows another kick as sort of a "ricochet" type movement right from one leg to the other. Hope that helps!
