Has any one ever considered a stop kick to the hip of the attacking limb when a spin is involved? If so are there any cons to doing this vs hitting the ham string area?

I meant to note that the pro I see in it is that you don't have to worry about what type of kick is comming at you. The hip will be exposed split seconds prior to the kick itself.

That has always been in the program as one of the answers to a spinning kick. The only thing that might make the stop kick to the back of the thigh better is that it stops the kick itself cold, with no chance for "wrap around" effect with the leg. It also places you in a better position for immediate follow up!
