Hi everyone,
My name is Jose Efrain. I would like to learn JKD. I have no experience in any martial art. I just finished watching original JKD complete vol-5. Great job Sifu Lamar. I hope I get the opportunity to attend one of your seminars. The sad part is that their are no local JKD instructors in my area, and I don't have someone to practice with. Any recommendations on what should I focus more?

You have to look around carefully.
I often find out about schools and groups that I have never heard of but that have been around for along time.

There is a LOT of JKD in CA.
Go on a few forums and websites (the lists of Instructors) and see what your options are.

If you could find a training partner, get some videos and are willing to drive to train in person you should be able to get started.

One should/must have a base in some form of martial arts prior to experiences JKD. Try a good Kenpo school to start!

I wouldn't worry about trying to learn another art before JKD. This was the way I was introduced to JKD and I have been fine.

If there is any doubts in your mind ask the many who have had to take the long path in finding JKD. See what they say

I'd agree with Andrew, if it's JKD you want then go find JKD. No point in filling your cup - it's better off empty.

Find a good instructor and you'll do just fine!

Welcome to the forum! I hope you will visit here and post often! I apologize for being late on welcoming you, but the last few days have been really hectic around here! Now I need some sleep! I am very pleased to hear that you are enjoying the DVD! Let me know when you are ready for more! They are the most in-depth instructional DVDs that you will find ANYWHERE on Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do!

As far as advice on training goes, I would advise you to seek out a Wing Chun instructor if there is no JKD near you! Wing Chun Gung Fu will give you the base that you need for the foundation structure of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do! Also, the DVDs help! If you can find a partner that also wants to learn Jeet Kune Do, then the two of you can study the DVDs and work on the material together! If you are planning to buy any DVDs other than mine, please feel free to email me for advice. I have pretty much everything that is out there, and can give you an honest assessment of the material on the DVDs!
