when you face a fighter in the standard left lead and we have our strong side forward. What is your first fient? I like the obliqe kick to lower their gaurd. But i also like a quick fient and come over their lead hand.I also like punching their left hand destroy the weapon. I would like other ideas if you dont mind sharing.
thanks.

Hook kick to the outside leg

September 9 2008, 2:07 PM

I mean, it seems to buckle the opponent. I have a penchant for kicks, but you can set up the kick with a bil jee fake, and simultaneously hook kick the left leg. The key is speed and fake out.

Use your kick to BREAK HIS LEG
That will lower his guard for sure!

The attacking tool would depend upon your angle and distance.
Practicing a Lead Pendulum Round kick is a good thing to do.
When refined they can get quite strong and fast. (my stomach hurts right now because I have been working on it)

The way I end up throwing them they tend to look as if the target is going to be midsection but then the Leg Drops down at an angle to a low kick. This makes it hard to defend if you haven't seen it before.

Another technique that I practice a lot on the Mook Jong is to "Reap" the lead leg at the Knee using my Lead Foot to pull the opponents knee forward and then using that as a "Chambering" motion to Side Kick into the Rear Leg.
Pulling the front knee out makes them transfer weight to the back foot.

Side Kick

I like a side kick to the lead knee followed by a straight lead.

corkscrew

September 10 2008, 8:05 AM

if their guard is high... I like to fire a backfist into their chin/nose area (essentially right into their guard). It draws the block and the rest of their body inward and down... I immediately follow up with a corkscrew! It's one of my favorite combo's!!!

if their guard is low... just a quick little shoulder feint to freeze their feet where they are and follow up with a straight or corkscrew to the head!
