Training the Left Lead?

I am as big of a fan of 'strong side forward' as anyone...
But my Right shoulder is unreliable.
Some kind of Rotator cuff thing that comes back to bite me from time to time.

I'm going to start training my Left Lead some.
Does anyone here do that as a matter of practice?

I train the left as there are times in a fight where it may be necessary. Plus, your strong side may become injured and you'll have no choice.

versatility

John,

I believe in being versatile, so I do train both leads. I have more of a boxing background, so I started with left jabs. I am not as good with lead left kicks as I am with lead left punching, but it will come. I have always done the same in baseball, basketball too in terms of training the off side. There are angles you can't get to from strong side forward and it confuses opponents as well.

I don't train it as much but I do train it. It weird because even in left lead I still cock that left heel. LOL

hey jmpainter
i too am having a similiar problem. but i have also had surgery on my right foot. my right shoulder was injured in an isshin ryu class i was taking and i get tennis elbow flair ups from time to time, so i have to switch to a left lead. i am waiting for the foot to heal so i actually havent been training it yet. just doing some stretching. will get back to you when i find out how it goes.
