Can someone give a quick summary of the JKD symbol and meaning. I understand the outer lettering says "using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation" Looking more for the overall meaning etc..

Symbol Meaning

April 18 2012, 10:46 AM

The yin/yang in the logo symbolizes the opposites, such as soft and hard, offense/defense, etc.. The arrows on the outside of the yin/yang are to illustrate that combat is ever changing. In other words, In the course of a combative exchange (street fight) you never only use hard technique or soft technique, but there is a constant interplay between the two in order to complete the fight and come out unscathed!

Thanks

I am grateful for your input Sifu Davis and must admit am still a bit confused after reading Page 39 in Letters of the Dragon by John Little. Sijo Lee says the Yin/Yang does not mean opposite. I understand your intended meaning as both halves together symbolize the balance of the world around us.

Well ...

Not so much "opposite" as it is one cannot exist without the other, therefore they coexist peacefully! happy.gif
