HARDCORE JEET KUNE DO WEBSITE The Very Best In Instructional DVDs, Official Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Mook Jongs, Official Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Springarms, Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Training Clothes & Much, Much More!
This is a message that I should have posted about four years ago. However, I suppose four years late is better than never.
I work in the field of IT and I earn a living by building web applications and generally promoting people via the web. I like to think that I'm good at what I do. A number of years ago I did some work for a guy from my home town in Scotland - a JKD guy with the initials TC. I personally wrote the code for his online JKD club and I filmed over a hundred videos with him and generally spent some time working for him and promoting his interests as best as I could.
Back then I remember that there was quite a lot of - shall we say - heated forum debates going back and forward between that camp and you guys. Most of those conversations were basically of the format, "You suck and so does your martial arts". Some of it was quite entertaining but some of it got a bit ridiculous and hot headed. Sometimes the people on my side of the debate would swear like drunken sailors. Although you guys retaliated I don't think you were ever quite as foul mouthed as the people on my side of the debate.
Anyway, today I was browsing around and - just out of curiosity - I thought I'd see what has happened in the JKD world over the last four years. I can see that there's been a few sad losses (Jerry Poteet, Ted Wong and others). I can also see that the concepts movement - once considered the leading authority on JKD - has pretty made faded into the world of MMA. I can also see that "the Professor" is still promoting himself as being the guiding light of the JKD World and has somehow managed to avoid getting sued.
In any event, I just wanted to say that I regret those debates and I apologise for those debates. I don't consider myself to be a martial artist but I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out who is the real deal and who is not. If flashy YouTube videos with lots of views are your main criterion for deciding who the best JKD guy is then we can have a conversation about that. However, if integrity, literacy, eloquence and character count for anything these days, then as far as I'm concerned LM is the future of JKD.
Good luck to you!

Gee, I wish I could take my website link off the post. I have no intention of plugging my sites or my services on any online forum. Mentioning my site was just a poorly thought out attempt to verify myself. Please do modify or delete the post for me, admin. Many thanks!
Nothing wrong with a little plug David.. And thanks for the kind words for Sifu.. I don't speak for him but I consider that as jkd practitioners that we should try to be a family, and preserve an incredible and precious art. To be a fragmented group caught in silly political infighting is to disservice to Sigung Lee's memory. The fools and frauds will be sorted out in the course of time. Those who seek to perpetuate and grow and share as martial artists will grow..I plan on going to train with tc in new york in september. I say that only to say that my teacher has always encouraged me to taste someone else's tea. If I cannot empty my cup, how can I will be willing to listen and grasp someone else's knowledge? Enough of the political nonsense.. Keys share and grow, and train together to further ourselves in an outstanding and amazing art.
That happens automatically whenever someone leaves out their email address or doesn't login properly! Just an effort to get people to do what they are politely asked to do in the forum rules! Nothing personal towards you, as you should know, especially as well as you know me!
Thank you for the kind words! I do not ever remember saying anything particularly derogatory towards anyone, but I do remember being banned from a certain forum for honestly trying to answer people's questions about Jeet Kune Do and help them out the best I could (in a very literate way using proper spelling and punctuation)! All at once I was blocked from being able to access the forum! All I could think of was that maybe my comments were not welcome, and that the forum owner did not want me making an effort to help forum members. As for those who have trained with me, I don't know what any of them said or did, but I hope nothing too bad! I try to discourage that kind of behavior from my students! Anyway, thanks again for posting, and please feel free to visit here and comment anytime you like. You are always welcome. As for promoting your services, I have no problem whatsoever with that! Take care and God Bless!
I can't really remember too much of the details but I was probably the dude who banned you! :P
I wrote the code for the forum and from memory I think the only people who had banning rights were myself and TC. There was certainly a point in time when it went nuts in that place. I can remember practically begging TC to stop talking on the forum. Every time he wrote something he seemed to either say something stupid or piss someone off, or both. I wasn't any better but at least I had the benefit of nobody caring about what I said! I'm sure there was even a few instances where there was people arranging to meet up to fight in that forum. It was totally C.R.A.Z.Y! Anyway, it's nice to be able to look back and laugh at the whole thing, and I'm glad to discover that diplomatic relations were restored.
I seem to remember that, but still, no worries! I have always tried to be as helpful as possible on forums. Sometimes that is welcome, and sometimes it is not! I found that out the hard way. Seems like one of my students, Kent Smith, asked Tommy why he slaps himself when he is demonstrating. Tommy's answer was a very blunt, "Go figure it out!" Of course, that was the end of my student posting on there. He was banned almost immediately! I was either banned just before or just after that. My thoughts were, "OK, if they don't want my help, no problem! Just means more training time for me!"
