Michael closed a two-hour variety-type show on Sunday at Navy Pier's Skyline Stage in Chicago. The show was organized by the USO of Illinois and hosted by Kevin Matthews, a deejay from 105.9 WCKG radio. Mr. Blotto also performed. I don't remember the names of the remaining performers. There was a comedian as well.
Let's just say that Michael, Pat on keyboards, Nick on drums and Klem on bass -- rocked the place to finish up a great night for these YOUNG military personnel. Lots of dancing in front of the stage and throughout the crowd. Michael was at his best in this larger-than-usual venue. Everyone who had the opportunity to spend some time with Michael and the band members backstage following the show agreed that it was a magical performance. Michael even said something about how good they were . . .
Setlist:
Hellfire in the Holyland
Arm Yourself (opened w/ just one refrain of Bob Dylan's I believe)
Freedom Highway (Staple Singers) w/Ugochi on vocals in addition to Michael
I just took a look at Kevin Matthews' website and it said that audio of the show and pics will be posted next week so check it out at below link. There you'll find clearer and more robust details about the event itself, and how it benefits the precious Americans who are willing to go to war on our behalf. You can also check out the USO of Illinois site.
