Back in the old days I became obssessed with a lack of right hand shooting defenseman on the Flyers, and to back my assessment I chose to send an e-mail to the local team (then the Vancouver Canucks under GM Burke) to ask if they weighted this factor in any player decisions.
Well, it was the next day when I got a reply from asst GM Dave Nonis, even though my e-mail tag was "Heavy Sedsey, the Blind Pariah", and he said that it would be nice in a perfect world to have 3 of each dominant hand but it wasn't a deciding factor in their assessments.
Paraphrashing there of course...but it is an example that the questions sometimes do get answered.
