It's funny how the analysts and fans kept saying the Flyers lost too much offensively to be a legit contender this season. With Carter, Richards, and even inconsistent Leino gone, the team's forward group is arguably less talented. But they aren't taking shifts off. If I had to pick one word to describe the team's attack, it would be relentless. Every line goes hard and every lines has guys who are contributing consistently. The Flyers are first the NHL in goals per game.
Other than the Capitals, the Flyers are producing immensely better than any team in the NHL. Defensively, things need to improve a bit. The Flyers are 7th overall is goals allowed per game (as in 1st overall is giving up the most). Again, other than Washington, the Flyers have the best differential between the two. Ideally, Bryzgalov will find his stride and the skaters will cut down a little bit on the mistakes that are leading directly to goals. Pronger returning should certainly help and if Bryz gets a few strong performances from the team in front of him than he will get into a confident groove.
