Meltzer probably has the best overall hockey insight. Timmy P is way too concerned with his agenda about the team or players, so is usually off base about what he writes. I suppose that's part of why he's not at the Inky anymore - you could watch a game, then read about a completely different game the next morning. But yes, Pronger is on to his act, and really enjoys toying with him. San Fillipo is pretty even in his treatments. Carchidi, if you read into the way he says some things you can get a good feel for the untold stories.
On a side topic, I've noticed the Inky has a bunch of new Eagles writers this year, and they are almost all from the anger and attack school of journalism. And as if they're trying to prove they're just punk kids, it was far worse at the beginning of the year, when it looked like the team had promise. Now that it's all blown up, they are actually less inflammatory.
