When this team was leading the league in scoring, we heard "but the DEFENSE!". Now, it's "but the OFFENSE!".
Since the beginning of March, last 12 games, the Flyers have outscored their opponents 29-18. That's about 1 goal per game, which is all you need to win. (That's at the end of the game, not the end of the first period - the stat that goes in the standings)
Against the top scoring teams? In that stretch, they've played 4 of the top 10 scoring teams - and gave up a total of 6 goals, no more than 2 goals to any of them. Oh, and they won all but one SO to Boston.
Defense wins in the playoffs. I'm pretty happy that this team has figured out how to play defense, I'll take a 1.5GAA going into the playoffs. Especially since they've already proven they can score, that will come back.
I'd like to see them score more, but they are winning against top teams, it's hard to worry about the playoffs. I'm more concerned about going into the playoffs with so many rookies and kids having to play big minutes.
