Interesting perspective

I have complained quite a bit about Jagr's on-ice performance. The play killing giveaways have been driving me crazy. While he's obviously playing hard, his approach to plays seems to be more lackadaisical. My hope has been that he changes the on-ice attitude for the playoffs. But I kind of wonder now - does that have something to do with his new-found role as a mentor? Is he trying to do something in particular out there? Is he trying to blend into the boards and let G take to spotlight?

I do appreciate the off-ice effect he's had. Hartnell's career year seems no fluke when you hear him talk about how he's never worked harder, and it's Jagr's influence. Watching the responsibliity and demeanor of guys like Read, Couturiere, Schenn, Voracek, Simmonds - no doubt Jagr's prescence is felt.

now when the playoffs start, and he goes back to what he as doing in pre-season.......
