When we all let this settle a bit, we may not be ready to rebuild again/
I'm hoping for an Eagles draft like response, since we basically had the wide 9 on ice, and likewise no linebackers or safety.
No doubt the D gets addressed. They entered the season thinking they had Pronger as the core, and that would have been a HUGE difference. His solid prescence, calming effect could have been the difference in a series they lost when they lost their nerve. No doubt Paul has been thinking about that since December. There's a good group of young kids and serviceable D - Meszaros, Coburn, Gustaffson, Timmo, Bourdon, Grossman - they'll all be back. Carle is gone. Lilja - who knows? And another stud will be here, probably a UFA, a bit long in the tooth, which is better now than when they signed Pronger with no heirs apparent.
Don't expect much change at forward. Not to maek excuses, but JVR got dumped into playoff frenzy with no warmup, Breire has value as a playoff scorer, other guys were damaged by the end. The young forwards (anyone younger than Hartnell) are the envy of the league don't expect much change.
Other than that, I'm trying to stay distanced from personal assessments, I'm stil ticked by the no-show series.
