Didn't say he was the next Tim Kerr...

Bobs and JVR were our 2 best trading chips. Now..how are we upgrading our defence? Even in your post, you call Luke a second pairing guy, which is what I said too..a bottom 3 guy on defence. I guess I was just hoping for more of a Bobby Ryan type guy, and I know we were not going to get Ryan for Bobs and JVR, but it would have been a good starting point.

I think JVR's injuries last year serious hurt his value, as he seemed on the cusp of breaking out. I do think he has it in him, but being in Toronto is going to make it harder. It seems like we have had his rights forever, when you consider how long Kane has been in the league, but his decision to stay in College hurt his development.

I know there are two sides to every player, and now JVR is gone we are going to say he was better than he was. Toronto fans are doing the same thing...just read over at tsn.ca. They are saying they just gave up, in Burke's words, a future captain, and future #1 dman for an injury riddled, concussed, forward who couldn't get it done with such players as Giroux, Carter, Richards, Jagr, etc...

I am also unimpressed with JVR staying in the east.

Was hoping with fingers, toes and eyes crossed that we were going to make a very serious pitch for Weber....Yandle would have been nice too.

Noone has brought it up here yet, but can you imagine how tough the tankers will be if they get Parise and Suter...which has been rumored now that they have the cap space to do it?

And our answer is Luke Schenn, an 18 year old goalie, and a 160lb kid....?

Homer better not be done, walk from Carle, and get a true top pairing dman.
