Not getting Parise and Suter might be a blessing in the long run as those contracts are outrageous. That being said, Parise is a rare talent who brings all the things you would want from a tough competitor. I would have been happy to have him as our forward corps looks a bit tatered with holes in it as JVR and Jagr are gone. They will need to do something, but I sure don't want to see Coots to be dealt, they would be fools if they moved him. Schenn may be a good player, eventually, but I would part with him in a deal for Ryan.

The defense is another story. Some think their D, minus Carle, is OK and better than some others. I'm glad Carle is no more, especially at the price that the Tampons paid, but with an aging Kimmo leading the way....our D is very suspect. Mez, Schenn and a rag tag bunch of others are pretty unimpressive and they may have to wait until next off-season to improve and the market has nothing left in the way of good, available D men. Too early to tell as they may make some moves, but as we sit, the 2012-13 season may be scary.
