I love Brendan Morrow and how he plays, but he'd be a guy I would be looking at in February if we are looking strong heading into the stretch run. There are more questions this year than last year and it could be a year where we kind of retool instead of load up. I'm a little torn as to where I want the team to go. If they let the young guys develop and play through the rough stretches, it could be much better for the team in the long run. Perhaps move Timonen, Hartnell, and Briere (if someone would have him) at the deadline. Any of those guys could bring a nice return as Hartnell is coming off a career year, Briere likes to show up in the playoffs, and Timonen does everything he can to help the team win. NM clauses would have to be waived, but Briere and Timonen are in their career twilights and would probably do it for a legit shot at the Cup.
I would love to see Morrow on the roster, but it would depend on price of course. He's a UFA after the season and not knowing how our team is going to gel concerns me. I really believe that having Yzerman and Lidstrom in the locker room and setting examples with how they play is what helped Detroit be so good for so long. Don't get me wrong, I know they develop talent well, but everyone they developed always fell in line with their role on the team behind those two.
