Irony: I was looking for a place to eat when the text came in, after reading it, I turned back to the town directory board to see a place named "Two Shea's". Maybe it's am omen, and Bourdon will magically become our Shea.
Oh well, Paul tried. Forget all the "Weber was worth Coots and Schenn - that wasn't enough for Poile, even after the offer sheet. That's why it got to an offer sheet. Paul set up a deal that shouldn't have been matched. Oh well, maybe we can pick him up in the bankruptcy draft. But I wonder if the new CBA will have some sort of Weber clause.
And I was glad to get home and see that Homer didn't make some knee jerk move with all that money. Back to plan A. Take a step forward with a very young team, see what draft deadlines and next year's FA crop bring. Doesn't win a cup this year, but also keeps the team on a path to long term success.
Maybe take a page from the Eagle's playbook? Flush with cash, a team that's a year away, a restrictive CBA looming - rewrite G's contract for his career, front loading this year's cap space in his lap leaving more space in the next 15 years.
