| Hi everyone,
I went to see a doctor today, still trying to find a regular doc, and of course he questioned me thoroughly regarding narcotic use. After he checked me over and had a talk about all of my health issues, I brought up the "dirty word" narcotics. He looked at me, puzzled and asked when i had my last script, then checked it out, then asked where I get my prescriptions. He then got out the phone book and called for info, he was checking to see if I was double doctoring, im sure...anyway, they had to call him back, he was very surprised, all i could hear was overdue.
He looked at me and apologized and said congrats on the cutback of narcotics and asked if i felt that the tylenol 3 were enough and if i needed more than 2 a day. I said no, thats fine, he then said that he was impressed the pharmacist had said that I was long overdue for my usual pain med, demerol. He said he has to be very careful with whom he gives those scripts to. I said no need to apologize, I have absolutely nothing to hide all I want is to be understood...and of course heard.
SSSOOO, sounds like i may have found a family dr...not cause he prescribed the tylenol 3s but because he LISTENED TO ME AND HE EVEN EXAMINED ME...most of all, he recognized myofascial pain syndrome as a very real thing. Usually drs just look at whiplash victims as out for the big bucks...this guy seemed ok, gave some good advice. The only down side is he is only here for 3 months BUT he said he may stay. I pray he does. Our clinic has had five doctors come and go in the last 3 months...our medical system sucks here.
anyway, things worked out, I will be going shopping soon for groceries I'll pick up my pain meds then. Maybe I can shake this horrible headache. Marisa, before I forget I forgot to make the oreo treats again. i made a list for shopping and forgot it, I'll have to write a reminder to take my list, LOL!
take care everyone, you people have been great to me and my family, thank you all so much.
your friend

Annie - good for you that you have found a decent doctor, if only temporarily! Sorry but I had to laugh when you described him checking to see if you were "double doctoring" - is he new to Canada? It's hard enough to find one doctor to treat a person here never mind two doctors ...
Anyway again, good for you. Hopes he stays and you get some decent care. |

Oh Annie, Yipee! Finally some good news. I'm so glad that you finally found a doc thats decent and caring. Sorry I'm getting excited for you!!!!!!
That dang myofascial syndrome stinks. I find it more painful than the stupid neck strain and SI dysfunction. |
