Vee I think alot of your symptoms may have been caused by your long term use. If you haven't stopped taking it please talk to your doc.

Ibuprofen may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

constipation
diarrhea
gas or bloating
dizziness
nervousness
ringing in the ears

Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of the following symptoms, or those mentioned in the IMPORTANT WARNING section, call your doctor immediately. Do not take any more ibuprofen until you speak to your doctor.

unexplained weight gain
fever
blisters
rash
itching
hives
swelling of the eyes, face, throat, arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
difficulty breathing or swallowing
hoarseness
excessive tiredness
pain in the upper right part of the stomach
upset stomach
loss of appetite
yellowing of the skin or eyes
flu-like symptoms
pale skin
fast heartbeat
cloudy, discolored, or bloody urine
back pain
difficult or painful urination
blurred vision, changes in color vision, or other vision problems
red or painful eyes
stiff neck
headache
confusion
aggression

Symptoms of an ibuprofen overdose may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, blurred vision, sweating, breathing problems, or seizure (convulsions).

I think its something we should all worry about if we're taken high daily doses of ibu. I know with me it started to really bother my stomach months ago, so I stopped taking it daily and now only take an occasional dose to give my vicodin a boost.

What would you consider to be a high dosage? I take 2 to 3, 300 mg pills every 4 to 6 hours (except in the evening where I take a pain medicine that helps me sleep).

Mike,

I'm too lazy to look it back up but all the sites I was looking at said no more than 4 times per day and no more than 3200mg per day. But you also have to take into consideration a person's weight, its just like with children.

3200mg of ibu could potentially injure someone quicker that weighs 100lbs than it will with someone who weighs 200lbs. Also you have to factor in if the person taking the ibu is on any other meds and have any other illness's.

I hope I'm making sense.

The 3200mg a day are based on the average person. I can't find what their considering average though.

I am taking about that amount and I am fairly large (5'10, 230 lbs) so I guess I am probably ok (my doctor said that it would be alright to take that amount but not for long term). Thanks for the info.

2Xday: 800 MG

January 12 2007, 11:11 PM

I'm taking 800 mg 2Xday. Should I take 'regular' Ibu since I'm on Vicodin now????

Scary! but and why do the dr's still tell you to keep taking it.

I've been on for five months: ANYONE ELSE A YEAR OR MORE?????

I weigh 140. I'm 5'5.

Vee

I know I heard on Dr Drew that long term use of IBu or Tylenol can require a kidney transplant...I haven't had any of the symtoms you listed. I will though, look up some of the dangers of IBu. My dr says it's okay?
I have been taking 1X day now that I have Vicodin. Vicodin, for now, is helping so so much! it definately takes the edge off a lot of the time.
Thank you!

I wonder if I should still see my regular GP when I was sent to a neurologist to be treated????do I see both still???? who manages our care???

thanks TSPAULD!!!
Best, Vee

Vee you have complained of MANY of those symptoms including -

Ringing in ears
blurred vision, changes in color vision, or other vision problems
stiff neck
headache
confusion

You have also been warned over and over and over and yet you continue to take it. First it was shame on the Dr and now it is shame on you. IF the so called seizure are a result of this it is because of your own choices and you will need to take responsibilty for that.

I have to believe you are playing us for some sick reason because NOBODY could be this ---- fill in the word, there are so many!

Do you keep seeing your GP? DUHHHHHHH it is his records that will make or in your case, break your settlement. EVERYthing the others Doctors do, is sent to him and he will make notes on that.

You know all this and have stated it yourself so I must assume you are having a blast going from smart to stupid to victim to confused to.... all in one day just to mess with all of us who are truely hurt. So sad

If me stating the truth about this gets me banned by the Vee bodyguard let it be as I have no desire or energy left to play these games.
