Hi all,
just wondering if anyone has any idea on what it refers to when s.s. says it's waiting to be writen. I had my disability hearing in nov. and when I call to check on the progress they always tell me that. And to call back in a month. Anyone have any idea on how long it will take to get a answer.
Thank You
Suze

I think it varies. Someone on this board is still waiting after over a year, yet I got my check in 2 months without a hearing (approved during first phase). SSA is so full of bleep.

So sorry you had to put up with all this mess.

I recently "lost" my SSI and it shouldn't had happened. Someone in the SSA office entered a wrong code that terminated my SSI! I noticed that if you called and talk to one person, they would give me one answer. However, if you call back in 5 minutes, and talk to someone else, they give you different answer!

I got my SSI back!

Meanwhile, I found a GREAT site, you would need both web addresss open to understand and follow the codes in 2nd site.

First, go to http://www.ssa.gov/disability/disability_process_welcome.htm and read it. There is something on it about average wait time for so and so step. The chart can be found at http://www.ssa.gov/disability/disability_process_frameset.html .

I have concern about the chart as it was last updated in 2002! I was shocked that for those who has to go to the very end, average wait time was 1,760 days! That equals to almost five years.

Man,, isn't SSA a real pain in the bleep.

about SSA being confusing.. Other than wrong code last month, let me tell you a little story.

Years ago, when my children were young, my husband died.
We went on survivor benefit under his name. It was easy to apply for and get our check without waiting because he was approved in 4 months for SSDI due to his impending death.

Somehow, a few years later, I got a letter from SSA office saying that my check was being terminated becuase I re-married. I was floored and called them up and said,,,, WHEN DID I MISS MY OWN WEDDING?

I understand you there, my husband was always a faithfull blood donor and quite a few years back we got a letter from the red cross saying he had hepatitis and they could not use or take his blood anymore. he went right in and had all test done and he never had it. sent letter in to red cross from dr's also. all because someone put wrong info in the computer. but red cross can't change info. even with dr's letter.
I.m glad they got things straightned out for you but it was probley a pain having to get info for them to change things back. also sorry for your loss. my best suze

I'm glad you got your s.s. figured out. and got it back. must be a big relief. My case is so messed up, a long story but stupidity on my part. I didn't appeal s.s.d.i. my first time around. when I had enough credit's from work. and was 2 weeks shy from my work credit 2nd time around to get it. then to top it off they claim hubby makes to much for s.s.i. I did get my hearing tho. And voc expect mention a couple job.s I could do which I rebuttled. Then she mentioned 2 more jobs which I could do which are close to the first one she mentioned. I didn't say anything I did kinda chuckel like ha yea right. and then I cried. Pretty messed up. so now it's a wait and see what happens. I'm gonna check the links out.
thanks for info, suze
