| And I go back to the neurosurgeon for another round of trigger point injections. Not sure why, they didn't work last time.
But I'm also going back on Thursday morning to try another round of PT. I'm crossing my fingers that something helps. The stupid tramadol and vicodin isn't doing a thing for me.

I'm not sure if the trigger points are the same I got but the ones I got were to pin-point the problem area. They never did much for me but for a few days.
I know what you mean about the Vicodin too....I had the doctor take me off the Perocet and go to Vicodin and today I'm having a HORRIBLE day. I gave one of my dogs a bath yesterday and I'm paying for it dearly.
PT did nothing for me either. I would feel better while there but by the time I got to the truck I was in the same amount of pain.
I don't know what the answer is....not sure if there is one.

Why is it that doctors insist on doing these trigger point injections? It just baffles me, which is why I made a post yesterday asking if the injections have worked for anyone else. I think we all struggle with "what to do". Even though the injections have NEVER worked for more than a few days, everytime I a doctor suggests doing them, I think "ok, maybe they will work this time", and they don't. I recently read that steroids supress the immune system and put the adrenal glands in hibernation. My feeling is that if the injections dont work, why keep putting crap into my body that probably isnt very good for it. Just my thoughts. I really hope you can find something to relieve some of your pain. |

The injections made me put on 30 lbs and took a year to get it off. They say they help them know what's causing the pain but all I know is they cost our insurance companies a fortune and don't last. I've had those that don't work at all and those that work for a short time. I've even had one that cost $5,000 for just one shot but the surgeon didn't believe it until I took the insurance paper where they paid it in.
I think their a waste of time and the doctors don't even listen when they do help somewhat. I had one in my S1 joint and it took a year b4 they paid attention to the fact the shot worked and gave me short relief. They said I should have said something.....but I did. They then said we'll we forget sometimes. So I was in additional pain from the S1 joint for a year before they did the operation.
The doctor said I suffered from chronic pain and there was nothing that could be done about it but finally when I could no longer lay on my left side they figured it out that they had dropped the ball.

Ouch Tammy!
The last time they just did my upper shoulders. This time their supposed to be doing my neck. Crossing fingers. Last time I only got about 24 hours of relief. And I think it was more just from the lidocain. At this point I figure I'll try it once more. I'd like more than 24 hours but I'll be grateful for that.
I haven't had my SI joint done. But it sounds like it isn't a great idea. I've gotten minimal relief from the foolish shoe lift I've been using, but when I saw my PCP last week he said that it takes about a month before I'll notice any major difference. Well its now been over a month and still nothing.
I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens on Thursday and see what else the neurosurgeon wants to do. |

Tspauld,
Good luck on the injections! I hope they help!
Are you getting TPI in your neck? Just wonderin cuz when I went in a couple months ago, I told the nurse practitioner I wanted her to inject me about 50 times in the neck! LOL She asked exactly where I am having pain and everywhere I pointed to, she said she couldnt do because they were too close to arteries and the brain stem and whatever.....
Is she lying to me?
I got 3 in my shoulders back in January, and havent gotten any since because my neck is the most painful, and since she said they couldnt do it, I just thought, screw it, im not getting anymore then.

Yes, I'm supposed to be gettin them in my neck. That's what my PCP wants them to do anyway.
Yikes, I had never thought about all the arteries and veins and stuff. Hopefully my tender spots aren't near any of them.
Today, I'm just assume they cut my darn fool head off. I can tell we've got rain coming. My head is splitting and my entire body aches.
This is the same doc that had me doing the cranio-sacral therapy. The only thing that helped with was it got rid of my TMJ. I have a feeling that she's going to push in that direction again. We'll see tomorrow.
This thing is a complete mess and I'm just so sick of it. I keep chugging along though. Too many things in life that I refuse to give up. I try not to let stuff from the accident slow me down.

I hope it works for you this time. I tried the injex too with no help. I've never tried TPI as of yet...please keep us updated. Also, if you feel up to it, tell us why TPI are used per se? is it for myofascial/fibromyalgia type pain? I know that the vicodin is good at some times and at others NO GOOD? this type of injuries can be so elusive--- : (
thank you so much for keeping us updated as to "what works and doesn't" of course we're all unique that way...
well thoughts, Vee |
