I ended up with the injections

So I'm just getting home from the neurosurgeon.

She couldn't inject the trigger points in my neck. She said there too close to my spine. But my neck is covered in them.

So instead she did 3 in the top of my right shoulder and 2 in the top of my left shoulder. She told me they were huge.

So for right now my shoulders at least feel pretty good and I can actually move my neck a little more than usual. Of course now the very center of my back is killing me. So I go back in 4 weeks and she wants to inject a bunch more. I think I'll wait and see how much relief I actually get from these ones. And if I can get a couple of days I think I'll go ahead and have her do my entire back. lol Now hopefully my blood sugar doesn't shoot way up through the roof.

hi tspauld,
I had the same thing happen to me, I think I told you that yesterday. they wouldnt inject my neck because of all the arteries and the brainstem. what a crock huh? LOL Most of the nagging pain is in my neck, so I refused anymore injections. The pain in my back I can deal with for the most part.
well I hope you get some relief from the injections.

take care-marisa

Thanks Marisa,

Yeah you did tell me that yesterday. So far so good, for now anyway. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

If I can get more than just a day or two I'll be happy for now.

And yes it is a crock that they can't do the neck. I may take Annie's advice and talk to them about the Botox injections.

Right now I'm just jumping for joy cause at least my shoulders don't hurt and I can move my neck a little better.

I hope your injections are helpful and atleast provide some relief. I wish I could do my own injections everyday!! lol Atleast I could be numb constantly!!
One of the doctors I seen wanted to do botox injections but my insurance would not cover it, so the doc wouldnt do them (even though I signed a doctors lien, stating that he would get his money if/when I settled my case). I would be curious to see if botox worked for me also, but I imagine they arent cheap!! My insurance company will not cover a lot of things, including physical therapy, so I had to sign a doctors lien for all of my physical therapy sessions as well.

I hope the injections work this time for you. I imagine when I go to the pain center at the end of the month, they will want to do more injections, but I'm not sure I'm up for that.

Have a good night,
angie

Oops

No, it wasn't you.

I reread what I posted and I confused myself. lol

My neck is covered in these little dime size knots on the muscles in my neck. But because they were so close to my spine she couldn't inject them.

The five injections I did have done were also knots also called trigger points, they were about the size of Walnuts. So she injected directly into them in hopes to try and stop the spasming. She told me that it probably won't get rid of them but it should deactivate them from spasming for awhile.

I'm going to wait and see how long I actually get relief from these ones and then decide if I want to go back in 4 weeks.

And yes they did hurt! It wasn't the actual needle going in that hurt. She was kind and sprayed my shoulders with that nasty cold stuff. That nasty stuff thats so cold that it burns. It was when she actually hit the trigger point and it started spasming and when she injected the stuff in.

And so far so good with the sugar. I'm just hoping that it doesn't skyrocket over night.

Ts, Hope it helps! you've had TPI before right???
I've had the other injex: Steroid : / no results for me...

Im thinking of trying again though with TPI this time. DOES it help right away? how is it decided that that's the best/or an option? I am fairly new to figuring this all out. I have to tell my dr what I want.

Thank you Ts, HOpe your weekend is great

Blessings, Vee : )

TALKING ABOUT INJECTIONS

May 5 2007, 8:37 PM

I JUST HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY PAIN CLINIC ON FRIDAY. MY RHIZOTOMY IN THE THORACIC LASTED 6MONTHS. 3 WEEKS AGO I HAD THORACIC FACET INJECTIONS AND THAT GAVE ME RELIEF FOR 9 DAYS BUT I WILL BE GOING BACK IN FOR THORACIC RHIZOTOMY, AGAIN. I QUESTIONED THEM ABOUT MY GOALS AND IF I HAVE THEM SET TO HIGH. APPARENTLY I HAVE TO LOWER MY GOAL INORDER TO ACHIEVE THEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WHIPLASH PAIN WILL NEVER GO AWAY BUT I WILL LEARN TO CONTROL THE PAIN WITH INJECTIONS. I DON'T LIKE NEEDLES BUT YOU KNOW JUST TO BE ABLE TO DO A FEW THINGS WITHOUT PAIN ONCE IN AWHILE FEELS GREAT.
