My own house! I'm excited!

Hi All! I sign the papers and get the keys to my "new" house tomorrow! Yeaaaaaaah!

Tammy, your ability to handle your case has inspired me to do my own conveyancing for my house purchase(do they call it that in the States? It's land title searches and transfer of ownership etc). Not nearly as difficult as what you took on but it has given me a real sense of accomplishment.

This place has been being built for 17 years and is at "lock-up" stage - it has doors and windows and a roof, but only bare wood frame inside, no electrical wiring and no plumbing fixtures. I've been rushing around like a chook (chicken) with it's head cut off, trying to organise people to help me move and also to do some very necessary things to the house. Between Thursday and Saturday I've got tradespeople coming so that I have some water to the inside of the house and the holes where kids threw stones at the windows mean the glass has to be replaced.

It's been real well built and how it is means I get to buy it real cheap and I've been buying things (like a kitchen & appliances) on ebay to finish it off. My kids have been real good and gone on the mortgage with me. Otherwise there's no way I could afford it as the settlement was really a disgrace!

My head is now clearer than it's been since the mva (5 years next month!) and when the house is in a bit better state I'm going to try for a job - only part-time as I still tire so easy and sitting/standing for a while exacerbates pain.

I get to move in on Saturday - I'm thinking of it as camping out in the house . Will have to cook on the BBQ until the kitchen gets put in. Won't have my 'puter for a while as it got fried by a power surge while I was away from home. Son will see if he can revive it, but isn't hopeful.

Life is an adventure! Even a year ago I didn't expect to have travelled to new places and to be living where I am, let alone to have a house to make into a home. I am truly blessed. Thank you to my friends here, old and new, for being you and being there. Apologies to thosewhose emails I haven't managed to reply to. I'll try and get to do that soon!

I am so blessed to live in a beautiful part of this earth! Autumn (Fall) is my favourite time of year, with mild days with blue skies by day and clear, starry nights. The smell of the sea surrounds me, and the reds and yellows of the various eucalypt trees in bloom fill my eyes with joy.

Love & Light!

I Wish For You
Comfort on difficult days,

Smiles when sadness intrudes,

Rainbows to follow the clouds,

Laughter to kiss your lips,

Sunsets to warm your heart,

Gentle hugs when spirits sag,

Friendships to brighten your being,

Beauty for your eyes to see,

Confidence for when you doubt,

Faith so that you can believe,

Courage to know yourself,

Patience to accept the truth,

And love to complete your life.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life
appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish enough 'Hello's' to get you through the final 'Good-
bye.

And if you can't have all that...

Then I wish you enough chocolate

to make it through the tough times....

Hi Oz
Sounds like your going to be real happy when all is said and done. I hope it goes smoothly. True paradise is hard to come by these days. Remember to set up a game plan so it doesn't overwhelm you. We're all behind you cheering you on. When your computer is up and running, later on, you might be able to send some pics. What you've been describing sounds to awesome for words.

I am so happy for you OZ....this is fabulous!! The settlements are never great, the only way to be happy is to move on and see life as an adventure....before the MVA you were not travelling and didn't have a house...life happens anyways so might as well enjoy the ride!

Hi All! Sorry I haven't been around. My computer is fried so have to get a new one.

In between moving still, as people that were helping have let me down. Have moved across road from where I've been staying, as well as some stuff to my new house, as my place is not livable enough yet. My house mate has been really horrid and not at all understanding about me being let down & my inability to do much of the moving myself. Not a good day today - he was yelling at me down the phone as I'm too sore to go there & get the last of the stuff & he has to wait until tomorrow. Ended up hanging up on him & I won't take his calls - no way I'll be yelled at!

Thought I'd been managing well, until he carried on like he did today. Still, think I've learned how to roll with the "punches" a little better than what I used to.

I hope all is well with you all! Love & Light!

Sheesh Oz.. that sounds horrid .. ..

what is the big rush .. .. why would he want your stuff out so fast .. that is so unreal ...

and to yell at you .. that was wrong .. I'm glad you did not answer his calls ..

Don 't allow no one to bully you Oz.. you have gone through sooooooooooooooooooooooo much in the last little bit ... and to have this turkey talk to you like that .. IS WRONG ...

You know honey .. we continue to jump those hurdles time and time again ...
and we know what it is like to be down and out and then to have someone treat you like that ..

we become numb to those feelings after awhile ...

What a bully ...

HOld your ground Ozzy sweetie ..
YOU DID NOTHING WRONG

and for those others to dump you as you are in the midst of moving .. oh la la ..

yah know the good ole saying
what goes around comes around ...

this holds true .

Sorry tohear about your computer ...
HOpefully once you get up and around and settled .. you can start to relax and be the happy Oz we know with the BIG HEART ...

How dare they .. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

On a happier note ... kiddo ....
thinking of you .. all the time ...

and praying all this trouble irons itself out to help you smoothly settle in .. with out all the chaos ..

gentle hugs my friend ..

Dang it all Ozzie!!!!
It is always something!!! You start looking for a place because his girlfriend is going to move in. And then you find a place but it is not move in ready, So you have to stay with other friends!!!! So he has his house back to hisself. And he yells at you??????????????? I think he has more problems then just trying to make his girlfriend happy!!!! And didn't you say she was now not sure she was going to move in???? He is just mad at the world!!! It is not you he is even mad at!! He just wants you to feel like s--t like he does!!! He was wants to Share!!!! Do not let it get to you. Get your stuff as soon as you can and then you will not have to ever talk to him again. Do not let this stress you out. It will make your pain go sky high!

Oh wow Oz! What an amazing year this has been. I'm so happy for you! I hope that moronic housemate - who you have given so much support to - has backed off and not caused any more grief. We know you'll be busy for a while, but remember you've got a lot of friends around the world, and we're keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Well done to you matey!

Love & hugs,
K x

(BTW, autumn was always my favourite time of the year too. I have a couple of gum trees and bottlebrushes in my garden here and they're in flower just now. I was told they wouldn't grow here, but they love it. A mix of home and English rose garden.. Beautiful!)

Hi Kituk,
It has been awhile since I have seen you post. I hope that you are doing ok.
Kituk I have heard of gum trees and bottle bushes
from reading books that take you to different places but I have never seen one. Are they flowering?? I thnk that it is great that you were able to get them to grow in the UK. Now you have a piece of you homeland to look at.
