Hi All! I sign the papers and get the keys to my "new" house tomorrow! Yeaaaaaaah!
Tammy, your ability to handle your case has inspired me to do my own conveyancing for my house purchase(do they call it that in the States? It's land title searches and transfer of ownership etc). Not nearly as difficult as what you took on but it has given me a real sense of accomplishment.
This place has been being built for 17 years and is at "lock-up" stage - it has doors and windows and a roof, but only bare wood frame inside, no electrical wiring and no plumbing fixtures. I've been rushing around like a chook (chicken) with it's head cut off, trying to organise people to help me move and also to do some very necessary things to the house. Between Thursday and Saturday I've got tradespeople coming so that I have some water to the inside of the house and the holes where kids threw stones at the windows mean the glass has to be replaced.
It's been real well built and how it is means I get to buy it real cheap and I've been buying things (like a kitchen & appliances) on ebay to finish it off. My kids have been real good and gone on the mortgage with me. Otherwise there's no way I could afford it as the settlement was really a disgrace!
My head is now clearer than it's been since the mva (5 years next month!) and when the house is in a bit better state I'm going to try for a job - only part-time as I still tire so easy and sitting/standing for a while exacerbates pain.
I get to move in on Saturday - I'm thinking of it as camping out in the house

. Will have to cook on the BBQ until the kitchen gets put in. Won't have my 'puter for a while as it got fried by a power surge while I was away from home. Son will see if he can revive it, but isn't hopeful.
Life is an adventure! Even a year ago I didn't expect to have travelled to new places and to be living where I am, let alone to have a house to make into a home. I am truly blessed. Thank you to my friends here, old and new, for being you and being there. Apologies to thosewhose emails I haven't managed to reply to. I'll try and get to do that soon!
I am so blessed to live in a beautiful part of this earth! Autumn (Fall) is my favourite time of year, with mild days with blue skies by day and clear, starry nights. The smell of the sea surrounds me, and the reds and yellows of the various eucalypt trees in bloom fill my eyes with joy.
Love & Light!
