I am so tickled pick!

My daughter just told me even though she knew for weeks... I am sooo excited for her. She got called to serve on jury next week for state superior court.

I told her,, why didn't she try to get out of it? Her answer was, why mom,,, I wanted to see what's like.

Will be there another paralegal in family? who knows....

Interesting Lee ... !

Doubt I could sit through a jury picking .. never mind a trial !
Yi Yi Yi

Whats great is .. she is young and curious and thats GOOD !

Personally I would not want to be on a jury .
I would rattle there brains........... if not with my pain .

I need concrete evidence man oh man !
Black and white just dont cut it any more.

Should be interesting what type of case ... ?
anddddddddddddddddddddd if they are put away in a hotel room for the week and are unable to talk to any one about the case ......

Now that would drive me nuts !

If I was healthy ...I would still try to get out of doing jury duty .. but if I had to .. . I would hope it would only be a four hour day and get to go home .

Something that would rap up in a week ...

To have to sit on a jury for months and months on end ....

Could get very tiring and boring and interesting all at the same time .

So ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
tis was nice hearing from you

She's young Lee and she has a very smart mom to boot !

Lee .. have you ever thought of starting your own business ....
and see if someone out there would cover the loan to get started !!!!!!

Have your daughter as your assistant or partner !

Hey tell yah daughter ... we are rooting for her ..
I'm sure you told her all the pros and cons !

I'm like you Lee .. I would have tried somehow to get out of it ... and she still can .. as she suffers from whiplash due to car accident if I recall ?

The sitting and concentrating with pain would be treacherous .. I'd probally hang the guy before he sat down .

Nooooooooooo just kidding ....

Nice to see you back Lee .. I was looking for you !

gentle hugs ....

Keep us posted on the out come .
If you are allowed ..

takecare

I wish your daughter the best

LOL,, Red said,, "I'm sure you told her all the pros and cons !"

I did! I told her,, "did you know, as juror, you get to ask question just like lawyers?" She was SHOCKED!

I think it's something that most people never knew - I didn't until I studied law. In some places, jury is allowed to ask question but there's a proper way to do it. Here in my state, juror needs to write the question on paper, give to baniff who in turn give to judge and wait for judge's ok to ask.

If you ever get summoned,, ask about it!

Wow, sounds exciting Lee.

And I learn something new everday, I didn't realize that jurors could ask questions. That's pretty cool. And it makes perfect sense to me.

Every trial that I've been subpoea'ed (sp) to I've never seen the jurors ask questions. They generally just sit there and listen. I wonder if the courts even let them know that information.

OH tspauld!!!!

You said,,,, "They generally just sit there and listen."

At one trial that I observed during my paralegal studies, a burgular trial was sooooooooooooo boring! When a police officer was dismissed from the witness stand, the jury asked for a break. As soon as they left the courtroom, you could hear roar of laughters when the judge remarked "every time someone moved, they need to go to bathroom!".

You are right, I think it's something that no one would ever knew. When I served in a jury about 11 years ago, I wasn't told of that secret. Of course, it all depends on local court rules. I wonder,,, I wonder,, could it be the court just don't want too many interuptions?
