Of all things my oldest daughter Missy was in an accident yesterday and hurt her neck and back.
I've given her the forum address in case she has questions. There are a lot of you that have problems with neck injuries and mine is all back problems.
I hope the knowledge I have since going thru all of my problems with the settlement and money help her. I am hoping you can help with her neck questions should she have any.
Sorry I haven't been posting much but there was nothing I could add.
Gentle hugs to all my friends. Tammy
PS...hope your all doing ok and OZ how's that house going?
Annie did your husband have a good birthday?
Your daughter needs prayers. As many of us know, neck and back pain are not easily treated away. One good thing though, I think, is she's young. She will be more resilient than many of us.
I ask that she be made whole through Christ Jesus.
Neck injuries are a huge pain in the neck. It's horrible!
So sorry Missy has to go through this! I'm happy to answer her queries if I can, Tammy. I am checking in from time to time.
I've run out of money, and, as you know, can't get social security because I got a settlement. Daughter and her partner are paying the mortgage and send me about $400 a month to live on. Had a garage sale last Sunday, with the help of big son and daughter in law. That will help keep the wolf from the door for a while. Had a job interview 3 weeks ago but they haven't decided yet if they want me or not. Will get into serious job seeking mode soon. Seem to be able to cope with fewer things at a time than I'm used to!
House is all lined and all plumbing and electricals in, but my wardrobe and the tiling, plastering and painting aren't done and the verandah and patio, as well as the landscaping, will have to wait. My front steps are concrete blocks! However, I love the house - it has a great feel and will be beautiful when it is finally finished. We are having a bumper year for mosquitos and midges but I'm learning how to manage them and think I'm winning!
Right now I have my 8 year old grandson staying with me and I'm really enjoying his company. The boat club on the island has been running a sailing training for the kids for just $50 for 5 hours per day for 5 days (his Mum & Dad paid) so he's been doing that - I'd have loved to do it, too, but just can't move/sit etc well enough to do so. His favourite thing is to capsize and right the boat! It's great knowing that he's having fun, though and we're doing lots of things together.
My daughter and her man are off to Missouri in the US on 9th October for about 3 months, so he can work on refitting an oil rig ship which the company has fallen behind schedule on. They get to keep their apartment in Singapore and I think she is regarding this as a bit of an adventure.
I haven't been posting much, either, Tammy, as nothing to add. Also, I've been exhausted with all the stuff happening around the house. I'm having good days and not so good days - when I want to take "Nana naps" lots of the time. Overdid the swimming the other week and could hardly walk for days. But, I'm keeping myself involved in the community here on the island and have just been organising people to respond when folks need support because we still don't have permanent police here (they're coming in November) but there are a large number of elderly and single people who get afraid at times and need someone there. Feels great to be part of a community!
Tammy, do you still have my email address? Now I've got my computer again I'm more than happy to communicate with you direct. Tell Missy to fire away with the question! Love & Light!
Missy has to start therapy so I'm hoping she can get back on her feet really soon. She says she's feeling better today but as we all know it takes time.
Oz, I've always kept your email address, never get rid of dear friends.
Here in the states you can still get SS even if you did get a settlement. A settlement is a one time thing so they don't really count it. I know how hard it is to want to finish your new home but it will be there when you get the money. I was so lucky to be able to do the things I did this past summer. My kitchen still needs everthing to make the house look good but it will take time. I'd love to talk to you and see pics if you can take them. I've learned to do a lot of things since I moved into this house. I've got some really nice unusual things I've done that aren't expensive.
Thank you all for being so kind about offering any help you can give Missy. She's a little shy so I don't know if she's checked the forum out yet.
Dana has moved back home for right now so the winter months won't be so lonely for me. I'm enjoying the company.
Love and gentle hugs to all my dear friends.
Tammy
They have her starting PT. She's having sharp pains in her back and I'm just praying it passes and she's ok. She's my oldest at 39 so hopefully she will recover.
Tammy,
I was hoping that your daughter Missy was doing better. She is the your daughter with the grandchildren??
I am happy to hear that Dana is with you. It will be nice for you to have someone with you during the comming winter.
Please remember that your daughter is in my prays.
Hi CAA, Missy is the oldest and has my 20 year old granddaughter. She called me tonight and her husband was at the Bengals game and he fell and they think broke his leg. Just hasn't been Missy's month. I'm waiting now for her to call after she sees him at the hospital....it's been almost 2 hours and I'm just laying in bed wondering. I love her husband he's a keeper.
Dana is the one who had to have emergency gallbladder surgery but now still has horrible pain in her stomach. We go to Indianopolis on Wed. to see a specialist and do some hospital tests.
I get my life in order and then it gets turned upside down again. Dana is in a lot of pain and all she wants is to get well.
CJ....I think that's Red's post your talking about. I think her son helps her sometimes and he corrects something she's said or maybe spelling??? I know I'd like for someone to correct mine, lol.
It's nothing bad. Sometimes if you need to Red will delete something for you if necessary.
Welcome to the forum CJ, a nice place to be when you need comfort.
Tammy,
There is a old saying that "when it rains it pours"!!! Girl I think you are having a perfect storm!! I hope that things settle down soon for you and your family.
Hi Tammy - I sure hope all the members of your family get well and that Missy will be one of the 'lucky' ones and heal quickly from her accident.

I just read your post from end of Sept. and am very sorry to hear your daughter, Missy, was in a mva. Was it bad? Was she hit from behind? I hope and pray she doesn't wind up like us.
However, if she's like my daughter, she will bounce back. My daughter was in the car for both my mva's at the end of 2000. The first mva messed up my neck and hers. The second one messed up my back and same with Heather. However; I was laid up for 2 weeks in my recliner and couldn't get up my neck hurt so bad. She went on with her life, cheerleading, school, etc. (Oh, forgot she did go to PT for 6 wks then stopped said she was ok now).
She was only 15 when the mva's occurred. Now she's 21 and once in awhile she has neck or back pain, but she takes advil and goes on with her life. Your daughter should be ok, I hope. Tell her to do exactly what her doctor says to do (unless you disagree with her treatment plan, then you can put in your 2 cents worth, lol).
I know you are so concerned bcz no matter how old they are, they are still your "kids" and you will always worry about them, especially when one gets hurt. I will pray for her Tammy and you too. Try and think positive.
Tks Donna. Missy's doing ok. Her husband broke his leg a couple of weeks ago and she's been so caught up in his care that she says she's ok. I told her to make sure before she does anything. Thank God she doesn't seem to be hurt.
She was pulled over for an emergency vehicle when she was hit from behind. I was so worried she would end up like me but I think because she's so much younger she's going to be ok.
I appreciate all the prayers and support I got from all my friends here.
I love you all and I'm so glad I've had you in my corner helping me since my MVA.
