I got the job! I got the job!

Yeaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi All! I'm SOooooooo excited tonight. Got a call from the organisation I'd interviewed for the other day. They said they were very impressed with me and have offered me the job - counselling victims of crime and being a community educator. I am excited and really scared, too. Five years and five months is such a long time! I'm going to be reading lots!

CAA, so sorry I haven't put the photos of the house on, yet. I guess I'm feeling a bit embarrassed as the place is still not finished and doesn't look too wonderful as yet. I see it in my minds eye as it will be when I do finish it. Now I'm getting back to work I'll have the funds to complete it. The plastering and painting need to be done and the laying of the slate tiles on the floor and a verandah needs to be built out front. It's a little Cape Cod style house and though it isn't finished yet I love being here. By day I look out my upper windows into the tree tops of the gum trees and see the wondrous variety of colourful birds and hear the raucous laughter of the Kookaburras and watch the "bearded dragons" (lizards between 1 & 3 feet long) sunning themselves at the base of the trees. Sitting here now, at 10.30pm, I hear the "Curlew" birds squawking and squealing as they dispute their territories with their neighbours and the croaking of thousands of frogs and noises of other creatures which fill the night air. I'm a little sad as when I'm working I'm going to stay off the island during the week. Many of you will probably have heard of "Surfers' Paradise" on Queensland, Australia's, Gold Coast???? I'll be working in that area.

I'm going to try and paste a photo of a curlew on here. They are unusual birds whose knees bend the opposite way to most birds. This island is one of the few places this species still exists and there are only a few thousand of them left in the world. It's been so great seeing them raise their chicks this spring (we'll soon be going into summer, here).

Happy Thanksgiving to you all in the US! Love & Light!

Ahhhhhhhhhh Oz,
I am so happy for you!!! To be able to work again must be a wonderful feeling!!! And scary at the same time. And the Island sounds like a wonderful place to live. Sounds like it is a very peaceful place. I love the pictures of the curlew.
They are beautifull!!!!
So you will stay off the Island during the week? All week only comming home on the weekends? This sounds quite exciting you will have to explain it all to me. How far will you have to go to get to work and where you will stay during the week.
It all just sounds so wonderful. But I still want pictures of before and then you can send more pictures as you go so I can see each improvment. Remember we have a 110 year old home that we had to completey redo. So I know what you are going through. Each step of the way only makes your home dearer to you. I love my home so much with all of it's victorian charm. So keep me up todate on everything.
Wish I was able to still work on homes I would be banging on your door yelling let me help!! I love doing it all! Walls, floors, dang I even know how to make rounded corners!! LOL
I have forgotten how much I miss watching a house come back from dust and become a home again.
Take care my friend do not over do.

Congratulations on your new job. I am so proud of you. You must have made a really good impression of them. We of course had no doubt that you would qualify for any job you applied for.

I hope you don't get too overwhelmed what with a new job and trying to rennovate your home. Good luck.
