After 18 months of pain, lost range of motion in my neck, numb midback, a waddling gait from lubar disc protrusion, sciatica, ringing ears and headaches.....my lawyer had the nerve to call me with the insurance companies settlement offer....$15000 minus $14830 in medical bills and $2500 to the chiropractor and my lawer fees....I guess I owe about $3000!!!!!!!

The lawyer also said the woman who was sleeping when she hit me said she thought but was not sure that my truck was damaged when she hit it!!!!!! If she was so awake could she have tried to stop her airborne vehicle from hitting me?????

Does anyone know if lawyer's get paid off by insurance companies?

Are you anywhere near the statue of limitation deadline? If not, I would refuse the offer until a later date.

you used the word "had a nerve to call you." I am confused here because lawyer has a duty to inform you of ALL activities, including offers. I personally would want to know if insurnace company paid an offer. Your laywer has NO LEGAL RIGHT to accept or deny any offer without your approval.

I don't know of any lawyer being paid off by insurance company. Why do you think your lawyer is being paid off?

It is only a offer. Turn it down!

Hey Lil... you are dealing with a whole lot of pain and suffering due to the wreckless negligence of this driver !

If you feel that this is unfair . .THEN IT IS UNFAIR !
Dont settle !!!

I'm not aware if lawyers get paid off by insurance companies ..?
I always asked that same question many times over and over again .

I do know that when searching for a lawyer .. you want to ask that lawyer if he also REPRESENTS INSURANCE COMPANIES !

this will give you half your answer...

This tells you .. there interests are more for the insurance companies than there own clients .
something like ( CONFLICT OF INTEREST ) if thats the word I want ...

Further more , you can always change lawyers ... so I am told .

Go with your GUT INSTINCT my friend .
Dont ever doubt yourself .

Good Luck in your decisions .

My family doctor told me ... in front o f my lawyer " Ruth , if I could , I would tell you not to sue , because the suit makes one more iller. "

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo true.

victim once now twice by the idiotic system that s suppose to be fair.

IT's NOT !

I had a mix of offers thrown at me over a five year period .. and all peanut amounts !

take care

Hi Rain - With a lawyer like that on your side, who needs enemies? The advice given previously was good - you are free to change lawyers. They will work out the "fees" owed among themselves and you should not have to put any money out if you decide to change. Just be very sure to read every single word of the contract that you sign with the new one if you go that route. There are a lot of unscrupulous lawyers out there who only want a fast buck. Be sure that the contract you sign does NOT entitle the lawyer the right to decide if a particular offer is acceptable. Only you should have that right.

I am really concerned to hear about your waddling gait and sciatica. Has anyone checked out your lumbar spine and SI joints for ligament damage?

Take care and stay strong.
