Holy Lands ?

I went to holy lands sunday they built a huge parking lot and like four boat ramps with dockage(but they were all blocked off) and the huge metal walking bridge is all finished and they cleared all the trees and sawgrass all the way down the roads going out.
Then there was signs and a game warden stopping everyone "No motor vehicles beyond this point" at the first big bridge.
Does anyone know what is going on? It looks like a State Park is going to be there!

P.s. the fishing was pretty bad for holy lands all small fish, you can fish the pads canal by foot now that they mowed it all down.
So we decided to pack it up and go to Lox Rd. around 4:00pm(see next post)

Due to a big fire a few weeks ago that was started by a malfunctioning swamp buggy they have shut down holy lands to any motor vehicles in fear of a fire starting when water comes back up they will reopen it!

I haven't been to the Holy Lands for about 5 week
Where are they building a ramp and where is the foot bridge
I go all the way to the end of the road, 22 miles and put in at the dirt ramp by the big pumping station
Is this where the ramp is
Please let me know
Thanks

they put it right on the little lake and the bridge goes over between big and little lake
But they have it all blocked off, it looks like a huge project out there.
They probably set the fires and they got out of control, it saves them thousands of dollars if they burn the trees rather than removing them.
I think it will be a huge park of some kind to promote the building of homes and other businesses ( remember Weston was a swamp before they started building )

Was out there on Saturday, ALL OVER! Got out of the boat to take a peak and it looks like a new Lox type refuge, with tons of cichlids(lol)! Looks to be close to being done.

I am pretty sure they cut down the sawgrass along the road for a fire break. And with as dry as everything is out there the burning of anything would not be wise.

When they built Lox it was a funtional purpose not a sell homes purpose. I think the same for this. They needed to contain the holy lands and one way to sell it, was to add public access. Looks like it will be great when the water gets back up.

Did alot of scouting on Saturday and caught fish, the more I fish the glades the more amazed I am on how big and how many miles of canals there are.

Spelling

I believe you will find the correct spelling is "holey" lands, probably for being covered with a bunch of bomb craters from WWII practice bombing. From the looks of various things out there, I doubt if the lands are very "Holy".

Jay,
To answer your question, the Holey Lands are located just west of US 27 at the Broward County and Palm Beach County line. This SFWMD site has a little map: http://www.sfwmd.gov/org/ema/envmon/wqm/holy/holyindex.html.

That spot you are talking about go there in the summer time at night and you will tear them up on buzzbaits that is at the dead end when you are heading north correct. The reason for closing is it is to dry and people get careless which effects everybody else but that is the way it is.Has anybody tried fishing those gig lakes they had made?I use to fish there all the time in the summer that is where I caught my biggest fish.
