Went out the other day at about 4pm on the C-14, and put in at the Rock Island ramp, I almost got the trailer stuck on the ledge due to low water. The water is as low as I have ever seen it, and I've lived in Margate for 13 years now. The fishing was as good as I thought it would it be on the outside eelgrass lines. I don't wanna give out too many secrets, but I will say topwaters on the outside weed lines is really putting them in the boat for me. I switched to a crankbait and started fishing the ledges and I caught a couple of small ones, but while I was reeling in, about 3 feet off the front of my boat I see about a 20lb tarpon just tag my little Wally G crankbait! I guess the tiny trebles were no match for the tarpons mouth, and he just did not get hooked. Thats the first time I've had a tarpon try to eat a crankbait out there. Any ways I finished the day with a couple real nice chunks in the 4lb range on a Gitem toad. All in all I caught about 15 bass, 4 bullseyes and 1 mayan. Not bad for a 3 hour tour. |
