What is the rules if a bad storm approches during a tournament about getting out of your boat and taking cover like in your truck if you are close to the ramp. The lighting has been bad lately and one of the worst places to be is on your boat as I'm sure Jeff Justice could tell you. Can you get disqualified? I've fished alot of tournaments during storms but I don't want my luck to run out now that I have kids to go home to.

common sense

Ask yourself! Is the possible winnings that important to stay out? I dont know about you but I aint going to mess with mother nature regardless of what the rules say.

What do the Directors think?

July 10 2007, 6:09 PM

This is a very valid point. I too would leave the boat if I felt that the conditions were so severe that I was risking injury.

That being said, I wonder what the Directors think? If I and/or my partner left the boat because of a severe storm, but left the boat in the water, and then continued fishing after the storm passed, where would we stand?

I would not want to be accused of cheating or DQ'd...But I guess that we would have to win first to have that happen.

I personnally think that common sense should prevail, and that reasonable people should act reasonablly. Let's go out and fish, compete, have fun, strengthen friendships, make new ones, and come back in one piece.

Ron

The majority of the directors of the larger events do not fish the events. I would probably allow someone to leave the water and seek shelter provided they check in both coming and going. I personally would not DQ is someone felt unsafe.
