Holiday Park Fishing Report

Went out Wednesday to holiday to get some down time in from the job. Got to the ramp at 6:06am launched at got to my first spot at 6:07am. 10 casts later thowing a zara spook and worm yeilded a 16lb stinger for 5 fish. Left the first spot at 6:18 and went south, fished from 7:00 to 11:30, managed a nice 5 fish limit for around 21 - 23 pounds using topwater baits and crankbaits ( Fished my butt off ). returned to theBword area at 12:00pm to go on home and decided to fish the "B" area. When I put my boat on the trailer 47min Later I could have weighed in a limit from that area in the range of 24 - 26 lbs. It sure was fun catching all those fish, but there was no stategy envolved, no pre-thoughts on what I needed to throw to catch those fish, and no using my hard earned money that I put into my outboard to get to my area a little sooner than the other guy to get a couple of extra casts in. I think all of the open tournaments should have the basin off limits from mid April till the water goes back up in the late summer every year. If not than the only stategy involved in being able to cash a check is what time you get to the ramp, plus its going to get ugly one of these days when 2 or 3 people think they should have exclusive rights to that area. LEAVE THE BASIN FOR THE GUYS THAT WANT TO FUN FISH OR WANT TO TAKE THERE KID TO THE SPOT TO EXPERIANCE SOME NICE EASY FISHING. Just my fishing report and 2 cents worth. my report

July 19 2007, 3:04 PM

Thanks for report T.C.

I have been on a fairly consistent pattern the last month; fishing vertical ledges; patches of harder bottom; and the canal bends on 67. Swimming worms in lower light conditions; crawling black/ blue worms along the bottom; and if I suspect the fish are suspended free lining 7" Senko's down the ledges has produced pretty well. Not the most exciting action but is working on decent numbers of 2-4 lb fish with a few bigger here and there. Still catching a couple of 5-6 lb fish around the toll plaza but this bite is fairly slow. Decent bite from time to time to be had in the deep holes on the Alley; worms and jigs are working but again keying on the more vertical drops seems a key. Usual baits like frogs, toads and spooks not working that great for me at least right now. Getting a few on cranks too, but not consistent.

Great report. I did the same two weeks ago with Bear. My regular partner by the way. Caught 60 plus down south on top water with top 5 around 22-24. Went bac that Saturday with my youngest son. and got 40 plus again. Top 5 24-26 all on top with toads and had a blast. He came all the way from Ocala. It was great.
Once again great post and would love to hear more like it from others.

Holiday Park

July 20 2007, 2:37 PM

I arrived at Holiday just before 6am. Biggflipperman showed up a few minutes later. We talked for a few minutes (fantastic guy by the way) and south I went. No fish till around 8am. Two fish around four pounds in a ten minute time frame and then nothing. Around 10am again two fish back to back around the same size four pounds that was it. Too hot and I left at 11:30am. Hard day.

By the way all bass were caught on top water.
