Mr. Singer: Thank you for your e-mail. As you may know, Broward County has experienced problems with our concessionaire at Everglades/Holiday Park. In fact, we recently settled a lawsuit with the South Florida Water Management District for approximately $120,000.00 as a result of spillage caused by the concessionaire. We must now try to collect that money from the concessionaire. Recently, the county had a workshop regarding how we would manage the park if the concessionaire’s lease was terminated prior to its 2012 contract date. At the meeting, concern was raised about the possible limitation of hours of operation at the park from 24/7 to something more in line with the operating hours of other county parks. At this point, however, there is nothing to suggest that there will be a limitation of hours of operation. A more likely scenario is that a new concessionaire will be chosen which will provide at least the same level of service as is currently being done. The outcome at this point is highly speculative and nothing has been decided as it is too early to even discuss the specifics.
I hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding that might have come about at the workshop held by the county. I am sure you will continue to follow this issue and I will keep your concerns in mind if any changes are proposed at some later time.

Roy, I was pointing out a fact that some may have missed. It bothers me that I got a canned response, as did everybody else. You have no idea how many emails I have sent to different people about the loss of fishing areas in South Florida. Almost every one received a carefully worded canned reply. The canned reply is worded to make you think they have spent the time to read your email and reply to you personally but it gives no hint of their point of view on the subject. I agree, the more emails they receive the better it is for the fisherman but don’t be fooled into thinking that the reply actually said anything, either for or against your opinion. Politicians are good at using a lot of words to say nothing. I believe some assistant quickly scans the emails and marks it either for or against, then sends the canned reply. The total count is all they are interested in. They vote for whatever they think will preserve their job. Send another email from every email address you have access to. Numbers are the only thing that will help.
HawgHunter thanks for defending me but I am a different Larry than the one you know. I moved out of Broward in 2006 but have some friends still fishing there and I still read this board.
Watch it Roy , Back off of Larry he is a good guy and post good fishing reports , who died and left you in charge of this web site , read your past post and just see a bunch of sucking up , you must be in management and use chap stick. I never thought anyone could break Bottom line's posting record but your getting close.
Roy , read your last 10 post , not one fishing report , just a bunch of order giving and smooching , get a grip . and there are no stupid post on this site.
Larry ill see you at the lake.
You must have me confused with someone else all I do is try to keep this site on fishing and try to support the clubs and tournaments.
If you noticed I have not posted anything lately because of all the trash.
But I am not going to have people talk when others are working on saving our everglades and at least giving a hand.
I will apologize to Larry I know you were only joking around.
All my post are fishing, fishing report, tournaments, clubs ect........
Pick me up some strawberry chapstick when go to get your Tampons, thanks!
I see how this site is , It is o.k. for you and BLM and Bart and Ike to joke around but when anyone else does it's a NO-NO . That is why Renegades is the best trail there are no clowns involved . I suggest a tournament ? Renegades VS Evergladesbassmasters , Bottom Line Mike's trail , South Florida bass Kings , Bass-n-fools , ect... the winner gets the rights to Holiday Park for 2008 ? losers fish else were -no club , no opens ??????? we'll show you were to put your tampons !
