I have not fished fresh water since April. A L-67 report would be nice! Have a friend in town this weekend who wants to hang some bass. I can tell you though, that Flamingo has been awesome. Snook all over the place with some Reds and Trout mixed in. Lots of sharks so use good size line to horse the fish to the boat quickly otherwize you will loose it to the sharks. Been using root-beer colored DOA shimp on a red jig head. Top water plugs work well early before the sun gets up too high. Of coarse, you cant go wrong with a baitwell full of pilchards or pin-fish. I have been fishing the outside but I hear the inside has been just as good.
Longcast

last week

September 6 2007, 8:13 AM

I went out to holiday park last friday for the fist time in two months. Weather was perfect not to hot and no mosquitos. We fished for about 4 hours from 4pm to 8pm and threw everything at them. Worms, flukes, cranks, spinners, and top water plugs. One bass less than 12 inches was all we caught. I couldn't believe we didnt catch more, but we didn't. Very dissapointing and can't explain why.

Lack of active fish might well be most of the problem I experienced the same thing 2 weeks ago on the C!4..Partner and I had 9 hits in 4 hours never hooked a fish and never seen one.
Too hot to stay out any longer

Fish are still in the canal in numbers but feeding in short bursts; mostly it seems during the afternoon. Fished Renegades Sunday had had long stretches of zero action; but were lucky enough to get 2 seperate hour long periods when the fish were active. Caught probably 15-16 solid fish with the best 5 close to 24 lbs. Our 3 best came between 1:30 and 2:30. Just have to be around the right stretch for that good hour when it comes. It is tough out there; no doubt.

The message board usually slows down considerably in August through November. It'll pick back up as more people start fishing again in the fall.
