Big Worms, How and when?

I keep hearing about people fishing those big 10" worms and was hoping someone/anyone would share some of their experiences with this type of fishing. Weighted, weedless? Fast, slow? Good areas to use this type of lure.I'm up in the Orlando area and don't see many using this type of lure(not to say it isn't being used up here, just haven't seen it). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dom

I'll definately be using the above listed site when I use up the ones I have but like this title says, I'd like some clues about when, where and how best to use them.
Thanks again,
Dom

12" worm

October 10 2007, 5:01 PM

Back 40 yrs. ago, on Poga, my grandpa taught me to use a 12" grape worm made by Mann's. He taught me to work it as slow as I possibly could. I did not catch a lot of fish with it but the ones I did catch were monsters. He would pre-rig (texas)them with about 3 foot of mono leader, bullet weight and a 5/0 hook.

Dom,
The best info that I can give you is to go out a few times and only use big worms. Fish it slow, cover different depths, and if you get a bite make a note of how deep and fish this depth a little harder. You will also have to play with the rig. I use 1/8' oz and 1/4 oz weights most often but it depends on the wind and the mood of the fish. Good luck.
