GATORS AND KAYAKS?

I am just wondering there are any concerns fishing from a kayak in gator country. Anyone heard of gators being attracted to the splashes kayak paddles make? Going to take my kayak out on Monday, any suggestions as to where to go? Where is Mack's Fish Camp? I may just try L-67a or c, any comments or suggestions will be greatly apreciated, thank you in advance.

That is not a good idea! You have idiots out there feeding the gators and some have lost their fear of man. I have had on more than one occasion where an alligator has followed my boat looking for handouts. These type of gators have no fear and will come right up to the boat when you are trying to net a fish.

You see people out there with kayaks, but that is not a good idea in the glades or anywhere else that has a large population of gators.

Stay out of the Miami Canal off of I-75 there is a 1 eyed 'gator that will get real close, maybe 2-3 feet away from a 20' boat without feeding it.
I have fished the 41mm on I-75 out of a 16' canoe and the 1 gator lifted its head out of the water to size up the canoe, first time I ever got the "willies" from a gator, this one also followed and gave up after the trolling motor was on high for a 1/4 mile.
I would only fish out of a kayak when the water is cool, there not as hungry.

VERY BAD IDEA.....MY FISHING BUDDY CAN CALL GATORS BY MERELY SLAPPING THE WATER WITH THE PALMS OF HIS HANDS.

THIS MIGHT BE A SIGNAL FOR SOMETHING IN DISTRESS AND TURNS THEM ON.

Thanks for the responses to my concerns... I know gators are attracted to splashing so, it was something that was on mind in a big way... I guess I will have to just use the kayak in more friendly waters... My main concern was that the kayak can be turned over quite easily, whether intentional or not... how about Mack's Fish Camp, is this in the everglades? Only started fishing for Bass a little over a month ago, mostly night fishing from shore... have caught (landed) about 200 since then, lost about 4 times that many... The biggest was about 21" long and about 10" wide from belly to back, anyone know how heavy a fish like that would be? Thanks again for all the responses so far, peace

Hey cuda man, these guys are just trying to protect there fishing spots.
if a gator swims close to a boat, it's just looking for a hand out. even if your boat tipped, they dont want you. if you read about local attacks, there always somone surprizing a gator or one protecting its nest. people kayak all over florida and gators don't tip them.

Now I've heard it all!!! Why would you recommend someone go kayaking in the glades. I sure hope you are joking.

There are plenty of canals, lakes and ponds in the metro area that will keep a person busy for years. Plus the fishing is better (and safer) in the local lakes and ponds.

South Dade has a beautifull canal system, 152nd Street (Coral Reef Drive), Coral Reef Park has a canoe ramp and parking. There are Peacocks and Bass. There is also a ramp behind The Falls.

I fished a Canoe in the Teneroc Pits in central Florida a few years back....saw a 15ft gator wide as a volkswagon sunning itself and it got spooked and took off but it looked like it was coming towards us. After that Im not thrilled about fishing in gator country with a canoe or kayak but that was BIGGG gatorville so to each his own.

You will generally see smaller gators but its true about idiots feeding them.
Last year a bunch of idiots were catching dink bass at the 1st rest stop on 75 west and feeding them to a 8 footer right across the ramp.
