S.A.F.E.R. PEOPLE PLEASE CONSIDER

April 27 2008, 1:03 AM

s.a.f.e.r. with all due respect to your members, followers, and future members, to help your local problem with all these new bass trails wanting to fish the glades, would it be the correct thing to do. by asking the out of town trail official to make a donation to your foundation for all the great work you have done and will continue to do to protect the local waters to fish for years to come. I feel strongly that the new bass trails that want to use the waters that so many of you worked for should be rewarded for where you are today. I see it as a win, win for all involved. and boy oh! boy! would it help this viewing site's members knowing that no bodies taking advantage of your local hard work. and can someone please post the address of S.A.F.E.R. to where a membership can be obtained, by myself and other sportsmen with the same concerns about the canals and fishing restrictions for those of us from out-of-state.......good luck to all that fish the tourney and may all of you return s.a.f.e.......... "stay the cause" ......... so. Fla. visitor, canal fishermen and future member.......sum-kina

Georgia thanks for your support! I went to the cerp meeting the other night and the majority of the people appeared to be special intrest groups. I myself love the everglades and have been fishing there for over thirty years and now take my kids there.
I fish alot of local tourneys out their when I am available and do not mind new trails. No one says anyone has to fish them. If you want to fish a trail, then fish it, if not be quiet and don't fish em; no one is forceing you to fish. I welcome anyone who wishes to support the everglades. I would like to see safer or another group put together a day where anglers go out and collect garbage they find in the canals like they do once a year in the intercostal. Can't we all just get along? we all like to fish and enjoy everything the everglades has to offer.

SAFER

April 28 2008, 7:34 AM

There is no membership in SAFER, Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at Bass Pro Shops in Davie. The Pavilion was built with a Grant from The Bass Federation Nation, and moneies collected from buying the ads.(signs on pavilion). People interested in SAFER go online to www.sfanglers.com and keep informed. If you want to help go to the meetings that are posted by the COE&SFWM. As usual I went to the meeting at FIU on April 22nd on the Tamiami Trail Project and was the only fisherman there. Hunters and airboaters were there, but not one other fisherman. We as fishermen have a huge lobby if we would only get involved, we could controll any vote in congress or the Nation, but we choose to sit on our Butts, and do nothing. In the future a group may be formed with a membership and dues to represent fishermen in Tallahassee, and Washington, would you be willing to spend the money to join?? Think how strong the NRA is, there are just as many fishermen if not more. Yet we can only get 1 person to a meeting at FIU.

castoff thanks for the info. as a person on the out side looking in 0n this web site and see all this negitive response is quite disappointing, your s.a.f.e.r. tourney should of had 100 boats plus, what a damn shame!!!! that so many fishermen don't get it!!!!! I know what I about to say is like smacking a hornets nest with a stick without a shirt on, but so be it.......to the fishermen who fished and supported s.a.f.e.r. my hats off to ya great job!!!!!!!...... to those who found something else to do,"BIG TIME MISTAKE" now theres proof on paper that most of you don't care, and some looking at results of glades activity gona some how shove it in your face. again to all those who "did not fish" think twice about it next year and remember the "cause".......someday you may really miss what you don't have anymore!!!!!! castoff33 great job, keep up the good work....your out-of-state friend and supporter----sum-kina!!!!

response to stay away

April 28 2008, 12:47 PM

HEY!!!!! stay away!!!!!!I have to be honest here!!!!! it's people like you who scare me, people with very little mental capacity ,people with no train of thought, people with no reason or rime, people with one sided me me me, mine mine mine concept, YEAH!!! somehow you figured this one out?????? people with "NO BRAINS" you can stop looking around now, because you my friend are "ALL THE ABOVE".........."BUY MY WAY IN????"......what!!!!!!,..now it's a crime to support something you believe in????? I should'nt have to do this cause you would'nt understand anyhow.....DUH...!!! but when I did live in so. Fla. (from 68 to 94) and when I became an adult and understood what the state was trying to take from us my friends and I started a club called "the south florida sportsmen club" to some of you who may remember this we had a great following with the likes of Manny Fernandez (ex-Miami dolphin great), Guy Roper(owner of the old Stradfords bar and grill in Hollywood),Wayne Davis(of W.D. ranch on Alligator Alley) (may he rest in peace)....ALL where great voices back then, and I was proud to be a part and the beginning of what S.A.F.E.R. is today in the fishing community.
so again, you asked "buy my way in"...... come on bud...!!!! done more for the glades then "you" or your cronies could comprehend....!!!!!!(remember you have no brains)....... you also said I was an ass kisser???????.......what ass am I kissing??????.....what you must have meant is "supporting" s.a.f.e.r.(remember you have no brains and I m helping you along here) again....now think about it "no brains" you have this guy and a couple of friends from out of state that want to help a "cause" that would benefit you "more".......and your asking us to stay away??????????...... "well lets take a vote"....give it a couple of days and I'll do what ever the web site results say......fair enough no brains.....!!!!!! question was, I was an ass kisser????? my reply is does your mom still ""wipe yours""........you must have a soccer ball...!!!!no brains, it's the black and white ball you kick with you feet,........just helping again,...................your friend......sum-kina

RELAX FRANCIS. BOY ARE YOU SUM-KINA INSECURE. WE JUST DON'T LIKE BUTT SMOOCHERS DOWN HERE. AND WE CERTAINLY DON'T WANT GREEDY TOURS DOWN HERE. WE SOUTH FLORIDA ANGLERS CARE GREATLY ABOUT THE EVERGLADES. JUST BECAUSE MANY DID NOT FISH THE SAFER OR DON'T ATTEND MEETINGS DOES NOT MEAN WE DON'T CARE. I PERSONALLY COULD NOT AFFORD IT; HOWEVER, I HAVE WRITTEN MANY LETTERS TO THE GOVERNOR BEGGING HIM TO STEP UP AND STOP THE MADNESS. I GUESS WE COULD ALL BE LIKE YOU AND LEAVE THE STATE, BUT WE WON'T. WE WILL FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT. SO STAY UP NORTH AND CONTINUE TO BARK, BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW YOUR OLD ASS HAS NO BITE. UP THE PROZAC AND I AM SURE YOU WILL FEEL BETTER. DON'T REPLY OR TALK SMACK, BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIVE HERE AND YOUR POINT IS MOOT.

AGAIN "NO BRAINS" you've showed the power of having nothing in the hat rack...!!!.... your own quote " just because you don't attend meetings or fish the safer tourney does not mean you don't care....!!!! come on no brains $50.00 bucks, you send more on cigarettes, beer, and chew. thats why they have the meetings and tourneys, to show there is support out there and the state or who ever looks at the activity in the glades can see it's a way of life out there. and by the way I'm 48yrs old and still plenty of bite in this middle aged dawg....!!!!! you know while I'm thinking about it,.. what a shame that an out-of-stater shows more concern about the glades then someone like you who can use one of gods gifts to so.Fla fishermen every day. "point delivered" waiting on more of your brainless comments...... your friend forever------sum-kina

Gotta agree with Ike... Why does the Lake have to hold all the water to supply the needs and demands of South Florida. Screw you guys. They are backfilling the Kissimmmee and need to keep moving south.

sum-kina , you don't even live here in florida and yet you chime in on every post. you seem to be the one causing all the friction here when people express there views. your making comments on things you cannot even view from where you are. why not search out a site that deals with fishing in your location instead of putting your 2 cents in down here all the time. I just don't get it.

I think S.A.F.E.R is doing a greatr job

I also agree we need to also do something about the Lake O

Since its all about money here if the cane company wants the water they give it to them

I will say this if people put as much effort as they do in here

we can save lake O and everglades.

Hi,Florida resident

April 29 2008, 9:55 AM

Florida resident, well spoken. It must seem to you that I may be causing some friction, you have a right to feel that way and I respect that,I really do!!.. the problem is I may live in Georgia, but I fish holiday, sawgrass, hollyland, and the lake much more then some of you think. to me showing support for S.A.F.E.R. would be the most thing to do! and the most Important tourney of the year to fish, the people who "did" fish did their job to show the local and state reps, that the glades sportsmen won't be no push over when the hammer time comes. here's a clue about the friends I talk about in Georgia, we all at one time or another worked for "PUBLIX" and all lived in so.Fla. but we transfered to the Atlanta area when PUBLIX expanded,it was tough to leave home, but we did it for our families to grow and prosper, with that being said, the glades is were I cut my teeth in the fishing world, I love those places down there, and will support them even from up here! sorry, but it kina hurts seeing the lack of support from so many local people.telling me to stay away after all the time and efforts my friends and I did for the glades before S.A.F.E.R. was around it,s like breaking off a 10lber at the boat...!!!!! you just can't have the shut and lock the door mentality these days, welcome the other trails to your area, you never know some of them may help the "cause" and the local and state reps may see the need to open other areas to fish and hunt not shut them out. like put a boat ramp and parking lot at u.s.27 on snake creek(great fishery but no ramp)bass, peacocks, tarpon and snook can all be caught on the same day fishing,Ive done it plenty of times years back. well Florida resident, I think you may understand where I'm coming from a little better.I've injoyed responding to you, you asked an honest question, and I did the best job I could to explain it with honesty and maturity. I just hope I made a little headway with some of the people who think that not supporting S.A.F.E.R. was a wise thing to do. know I will bow out of this area of concern, because if this did'nt explain all, it's gona take someone with way more skills then I have to make the "point"....!!!! S.A.F.E.R. group stay the cause.... you friend -----sum-kina!

Supporting SAFER

April 30 2008, 11:56 AM

Supporting SAFER is more than just offering lipservice. At the recreational meeting at Treetop Park on April 28th. There were only 3 anglers, Myself and 2 others interested enough to show up. There should have been 200 there to show them you REALLY care about fishing in the Everglades. When it's taken away from you it will be too late.
