| As I said before, enjoy the high water while you can !!!
You really didn't think the COE would let the lake come up during the Hurricane season did you ??? |

Just read the arcticle in the Herald. It says this is the fastest its ever risen. Maybe its not such a bad idea. From the other first hand reports of dirty, smelly, nasty water I dont know if its ready for fishing anyways. |

Brother in law fished south end yesterday and had NO problem finding clean water. Did not see many gar and caught 7 fish. And I agree, the lake will not stay at 14, especially with all the storms around, they need to bring it down.
Imagine another storm crossing the state with it at 14 ft, then they would be idiots for all the flooding. |

Heard they got some pumps from Tamps and are pumping the water up and over the levy into the lake. Some crazy amount of water. The water was over the sea wall.It is a little below that know.At least that is what my buddy said who lives there. |

The water is coming in from the Kissimmee Basin at the rate of 100,000 Gallons per second according to the Okeechobee News artical in todays paper. I dont know how fast it's really coming in but I can tell you that when you cross the bridge at Scott Driver and look toward the lake you can see the water flowing so fast thats it's noticable from the highway. I really think it needs to be dropped a little right now especially with 2 named storms out there. I just hope they dont do like they did the last time and drop it too much to the point it could hurt us. I can say this much , The canals at Buckhead were at the top of the seawall on Monday and they have pumped them down 3 1/2 ft this week and are still pumping with 2 pumps to maintain that level with all the run off water we are still getting. |
