I have a friend who used to fish here 10 years ago and at that time he said he had a small aluminum boat and that was all that would fit here. No ramps or nothing. He said at several places he would have to get out of the boat and push it till he could run in his boat again. He had a small 15 hp motor at the time. Anyway, he said they had some awesome fishing days but never any size just huge numbers.

I went one time and couldn't find any boat ramp to launch from. I have a 20' Skeeter and can't push it in mud like he did his Jon Boat. Anyway, here is the canal he said he used to fish. This is a map. Is this where folks fish now or do they fish in the middle or top canal?

As can be seen there are holes to fish in other then just a canal. This is the same canal just further north. This canal dead ends at the Miami canal further west.

There is an airboat tral to the right just after the pavement stops but you are not getting a bass boat in there. T here is a dirt ramp about 15 miles down the dirt road you go west first to the bend then north along the miami canal. You will come to a small flood gate just befor go right and the dirt ramp is right there. The canal will run to the east then turn to the south be real carful on this back part there are two areas that will go from 8 ft to 2 ft old roads and you will knock ooff your lower unit. On the right side of the canal it is all marsh. The back canal has really big fish in it. I caught most my fish on 10 swimming worms with rattles in them. T he road to the dirt ramp will kill your trailer good luck

I thaught that was the canal you were talking about.I use to fish there years ago at night in the summer. We use to launch an 18 foot glassstream.Havent been to that ramp in a while but I will tell you this if you fish there at night in the summer have plenty of buzzbaits you will go thrugh them.We use to catch between 30 and 50 fish in a night between 2 and 8lbs like it was nothing and some bigger.Alot of my friends would not believe me until I showed them it was unreal back then.We use to fish out there in a conoe at night of course we were young and dumb but it was well worth it.Havent fished that canal in a long time. The same directions .Take the levy all the way down till you hit the big spillway make a right and follow the Miaime canal north it will come to a dead end you launch there.Hope you have a thermacell you will need it.
